Bjorn The Fell Handed

Well I have been away for awhile and found out that there is a great Venerable Dreadnought available from Forge World. There are the other Venerable Dreadnoughts available from GW.... and then there is my classic old metal Bjorn....who I feel a little sad for because unless you can find him on E-Bay he isn't available anymore.

So what are we to do now? Should I shell out the change for the Forge World model.... should I get a Venerable Dread? Or should I just stick it out with the OG Bjorn?

The Problem that I have at the moment is that he looks like a standard Dreadnought....he doesn't stand out like he should. It saddens me that one of the most memorable characters that we have isn't in the same class as the rest of our character models.

There are things you can do like dressing up a "standard" or a "venerable dread model with bits and whatnot to look like a better representation of a truly Venerable one should in your eyes. You could get the ForgeWorld Venerable dread. There have been some very excellent conversions made for Bjorn and a quick Google should be able to direct you to some pics. Depending on your "vision" and budget, Bjorn can be one of he most spectacular models to create and customize to produce the Great Venerable one.
Ive got an old Bjeorn and an extra arm with the plasma cannon on it.

That's what I did, too.

I have a standard dread that i wolved up, the FW dread which is excellent, and the old Bjorn.

I magnetised both arms of the first to miniatures and the right arm of Bjorn. No I can swap all the arms back and forth as much as I want.

And I have almost all the arms (the only exception that i can think of is the HB arm)

If you can, I would go with the old Bjorn miniature, if not, I would convert him from a standard dread or maybe a ven dread. Buying a

FW dread to convert Bjorn out of is a waste I think. For me it looks distinctively different from Bjorn and it's an excellent miniature in it's own right.

Oh, and try to translate the runes on the FW dread, they are actually English words :P

Here's a good reference.

You can find a lot of info on the internet, just ignore the "magikal" stuff that people like to invent about them. It's somewhat of a hobby of mine really, I like to learn about my roots and this sort of thing has a fair bit to do with them.

Mine is the gw ven dread, covered with bits.

Ere' are 3 ok pics of him, he is getting new legs and has even more bits on him now- but i hope you get the idea. I also reconverted his claw to have a 'thumb'.

Looks like Aeddon got the runes covered already :)

The top left one is Strength, can't actually remember what the second leg says, need to look it up at home tonight.

There are many nice conversions out there. But not many give me the "That's Bjorn, alright" feeling.

Probably because I have had this mental picture of Bjorn based on art and the old model for the last 15 years or so.
