Mr. Black's Angels Sanguine Blog

Since my motivation has been lacking, I figure a blog about my painting exploits here (outside my standard one) will be better in getting me to actually paint these guys, rather than jump around army-to-army painting bits and pieces.

Here is what has been done thus far:

An early initial test marine (only change has been in the highlighting color)

A Sergeant

And a Librarian, who I feel I rushed a bit on, but I'll fix him up later...

These were taken a while ago, before I finished my Light Box, so sorry for the quality.

This evening I shall also put up some pictures of a completed Sternguard Squad.

Current Project: Vanguard Squad with Jump Packs.

Ditto above, both looking great. If I have to find a flaw - the libby's green force weapon doesnt quite work just because of the blue on the model - but its excellently painted none-the-less - I think a purple may be a better colour - but then again I am terrible at colour matching, I only know when it doesnt work when I see it myself lol.

Looking forward to some complete squads! Keep us updated.

Just had a closer look at that libby - excellent blending on the armor

The first two models are great!! Well done.

I like certain things about the Librarian. The blue is cool and so is the robe. However, I personally think that it is the red shoulder pads and trim around the wings that throws everything off. You have too many colors going on... bright blue, white, neon green, gold, and red! Something's bound to clash!

Keep up the good work and post some more pictures when you have some.

Here are some quick updates, still don't have access to my light box so working with what I have.

This next poor fellow was my favorite out of the whole lot, but a friend with two-left-hands and seemingly an inability to properly hold things broke his claw... I will be working on ways to fix this...sigh...

Mephiston done as well... Not using any "counts as" with this army since the Blood Angels work so closely with their successor chapters. Plus I don't like the idea of multiple personalities with the same powers as Mephiston/Corbulo/Dante/etc.

At this point my camera started to only take fuzzy shots so I gave up for the evening. Here is the one decent pic of some Sternguard I could get:

I like the basing on the Sternguard--I don't use the MicroArt Studios bases for much because I can never seem to get them painted quite right no matter how simple it seems. Good job with them!

Too bad with Brother Claudio...I like the conversions, but it would be great to still have him properly around for the squad.

You have some fantastic models here. I really like the powers weapons and claws, they are nicelly done!

I have 2 observations though.

Firstly, about the damaged terminator. I would file away the breakage point and glue others from a spare hand, no need for plasticard IMHO.

Secondly, I noticed that the banner on Mephiston is the one used for Chaplains. I would use his own, but If you like it better, it's cool. :P
