Angels_Blade Posted November 16, 2010 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Following on from thegreatcrusade.co.uk's awesome weekend at WHW where my Custodians killed all before them (and definately didn't deep strike mishap at any point!) I wanted to make a Custodian Dreadnought. I decided after looking at all the forgeworld dreads that none fitted what I wanted. I had a spare plastic venerable so that was my starting point. After chatting with a few people I knew I had to make it look less static and after seeing a friends awesome black reach dread conversion I knew what pose I wanted. I wanted him to be armed with a heavy version of the Heat Lance carried by the Terminators and a Power fist with gauntlet mounted stormbolter. He also had to be striding forward which caused some complications! I know it doesn't match any of the artwork but I believe it will look right in my army and I think paint will make a big difference. Anyway, please be honest with your feedback as I got a lot of really nice comments about the army at the weekend and I'd like to keep the same standard of conversion across the force. As it is right now, it would restrict the dreadnought's ability to punch. I know I know, it's a bit nitpicky, but those sorts of things stick out for me. This is going to be part of an army of custodes but it's both time consuming and bloody expensive! The tabard is the sleeve from th high elf guy on the griffon trimmed down. But it feels too White Scar-ish to me, and of coure the is IMHO <only. i think to would be better served with say, either of the skull/icon backpack mounts from the Command squad box, or the BT chapter upgrade. And i think with the posture of motion, a pair of Backpack banners mounted on each shoulder would be very eye catching, and bring balance in regard to the loin cloth/Talbert... by and by wonderful job. I tend to disagree with that. Banners wouldn't go IMO and it would look bulky and...comical (not sure if that could be applied here)? The Custodes are death, most know that.
