Tyrannicide
Congrats, Col. ;) Your artwork has always had its own distinctive feel. Its never once melded with someone else's work to be forgotten, and instead I've always thought that it meshed remarkably well with the 40k universe. Colrouphobic
Cheers guys, Incredbile. Did you use some computer painting techinique for the Space Marine? Ran define "computer painting technique"? I paint using a graphic tablet (Wacom Intuos4) in a computer programme, typically photoshop or painter. Biohazard
How many layers do you tend to work with mate? Ive found my last two pieces Ive almost lost count of the layers I have on the go and i cant get my rendering anywhere near as smooth as you. Colrouphobic
How many layers do you tend to work with mate? Ive found my last two pieces Ive almost lost count of the layers I have on the go and i cant get my rendering anywhere near as smooth as you. I find that I am using less and less layers nowadays, and increase the size of the canvas and the dpi instead. To an extent I'm more painting over then using readjustment on layers. I mainly use layers to do colour corrections and lighting effects, such as desaturation or making an image warmer or colder....
carnosaur93
that is so cool! :D would love to have my work displayed in stuff like the deathwatch books... and regarding layers. 1 layer = hardcore mode ;)
tiny sam
Cool pieces Colrouphobic. but isn't the Plasma cannon a little small? I mean when you look at the minis it looks so cumbersome but again great work!

I mean when you look at the minis it looks so cumbersome but again great work! Cheers, Yeah, for the images I made for Emperor Protects I got quite some references to use though. I also wanted to show a little more of the actual marine and in the pose FFG chose from the sketches I had to make the plasmacannon a little smaller to achieve that. It isnt that much smaller though, only shorter really. About a hand or two, by meassurment of the SM's hands..

A D-B
That's slick as hell. What I love about it is how distinctive it looks - never seen a Marine done in that style, or with that shading before. It looks lush.

Colrouphobic
So the book is out, I made a total of four illos for it, one you seen (above) and I did one more Marine, one non-PA character called Rylus Darkscourge (not sure I can post it) and one icon for a tainted sect (I think). Marine and Icon below: http://th00.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2010/348/9/d/dw03_assault_marine_by_1mpact-d34vhi4.jpg http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/348/f/2/dw03_radial_of_chaos_by_1mpact-d34vhlq.jpg
Pulse
I really like your work as always but i have to point out that the helmet of the marine in your new batch of work, well.... it looks a bit out of sorts, apart from that though he looks good. I think the chaos symbol is fantastic though! ;)
Scrap-miester
That icon may be for the Dark Mechanicus...

I think the chaos symbol is fantastic though! :D I think you might be right about the helmet... nothing like learning from ones misstakes  Scrap-meister, you might be right. I just get briefs with descriptions of what I need to paint and a mock-up name :) It was called "Radial of Chaos" in the brief, and the description mentioned mechanicus cogs etc...
