Erasmus of Baal
I'm looking for opinions on the idea of having Index Astartes that relate to each other chronologically. With the vague idea that is forming in my head, the first Chapter was a Second Founding Chapter that died out, and it was replaced by a Chapter of different Primarch Gene-Seed that goes traitor, and then another Chapter (possibly of a third Gene-Seed) is sent to replace them. Is stringing IAs along like this a good idea? Has it been done before, and if so, how did that turn out? Imperialis_Dominatus
I've got a project like that. One IA is my deluded traitors, one is their destroyed Successor, and one is the warband of the Daemon Prince who was elevated for destroying the Successor. I think it's neat. It allows you to play with perspectives. Consider the interplay between the Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists in the Iron Cage incident. They tell of the same event with different details. See, that's part of this--I'm not getting that at all since they're in order chronologically and don't interact with each other except by tiny touches of history and a little bit of traitor-vs-replacement-loyalist combat. Ferrata
It is entirely possible for you to write three IAs were the chapters are linked together, even if breifly in their histories. I do think you are missing a rewarding achievement by not having them interact with one another.
