Keyboard
Where did you get the Dreadnought hand? Everything looks awesome. Also, how do you magnitize things? Im interested in trying that out. Ashdown
The hand came with the venerable package. I didn't magnetize the arms; I just popped them on and they stay on pretty well with friction. As a templar player I wont use to many weapon load outs for it, however, what I did was carve the weapon it self, and it just slides in. Just like changing a clip on your gun. Ill take some pics and show you if you would like. But magnets are pretty easy to use. I bought about 100 super small ones, about 1/8 in diameter and in thickness and they are a real nice options, especially for terminators or tanks. Keyboard
Awesome, would the magnets be worth buying for tanks and normal marines/terminators? boffinboots
What's your weathering recipe on the white? It's lovely. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215317-ashdowns-black-templars/page/2/#findComment-2689167 Share on other sites
Ashdown
Awesome, would the magnets be worth buying for tanks and normal marines/terminators? For terminators yes, normal marines I would say no. But I play templars so its just a ton of BP/CS. With terminators you can go from lightning claws to TH/SS set up etc... so at 50$ for 5, I would say yes. What's your weathering recipe on the white? It's lovely. I use an airbrush so it may be hard to translate to a regular paint brush. Colors used: GW Charadon Granite Vallejo Game Ink: Sepia Vallejo Panzer Aces Dark Rust Vallejo Game Color: Boltgun Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour: Burnt Umber Pledge Floor Care with Future Bright I first apply a nice coat of white over black primer with an even coat. Then using a fine sponge, usually one plucked from my game case, I lighting apply Charadon Granite over the edges. This gives it a nice chipped paint look. Next, I take my paint brush with the dark rust and I apply a little to some of the charadon granite. I dont like going overboard with it, but just some here and there. Next, using my airbrush, I apply the Sepia. Now its pretty easy to go overboard with this. When i went to the junk yard to look at weathered cars, I saw lots of brown in the beat up white cars. Build up of explosions, oxidation of alien atmospheres, blood, etc... so I think its good to put it where you like. If youre using a brush, you probably would water down your sepia ink and glaze it on. Once I am done with that, I take Pledge and airbrush it on. That acts like a varnish and seals it all up nice. I then take the burnt umbra oil, and put a small piles on the upper edges. I let that dry for about 20 min, then I take a draw q-tip and drag it down. This gives it a nice affect. Then, I dry brush some boltgun here and there, what ever suits your fancy. Then I dullcoat it with testors. If you are going to use decals, make sure you put them on before you do all your weathering, you may decide that you want some of the decal weathered as well. Sounds like a lot of work but its pretty easy, but I think it comes out nice.
