Times have been good for my Wolves!

Man it has been some pretty good times for my Wolves

Tabled a Tau player at 1500pts last night. Lost my Fenrisian wolves, Long Fang Pack Leader, and 13 Grey Hunters while still holding two objectives.

Decimated an Eldar player at 1750pts leaving only Eldrad and a Wave Serpent on the table while holding two objectives.

Had a nice drawn out scuffle with some Orks at 1750pts. Game ended in draw with one objective each but Wolves won hardily in victory points.

My only stumbling block came up against a Khorne Berserkers army with three units of Berserkers, one unit of Possessed, two Demon Princes, two Vindicators, and a Greater Demon.

The army wasn't tough, the player was pretty much :cuss. Several rules desputes that I had to call him on and the straw that broke the camels back came when I got a destroyed 6 on two of his Rhinos and instead of placing the Berserkers where the vehicle used to be, he placed them outside the far side of the Rhino as if he deployed. This prevented my assaults and when I challenged it, he replied, "They are on the outside edge of the crater." From that point on, I just rushed everything forward to get the game over with.

I claim a moral victory for dealing with the guy and at the point that pulled this move the Wolves had had already blown the main gun off of one of the Vindicators, killed the Possessed, one demon prince, and the Greater Demon. I would have cleared out the Zerkers and then would have been able to sit back and fired for effect on the last demon prince easily. Just know not to play this guy again.

So anyway, anyone else just finding the groove with their Wolves lately?

Congrats on the wins.Sounds like you upheld the glory & name of the wolves.Have an ale on me

Things have just been flowing lately. Whether I am running a hybrid Loganwing, TWC, Thunderlord, or whatever it just seems I can counter opponents tactics and be where I need to be to beat them.

Seems good about the wins =D. For the last guy, just a tip about wxploding transports. I usually place a couple of dice at the edges of the rino before I pick them away. That way I know were I can put my models. Also, if he didnt bring any craters, the exploaded tanks are just removed. No diff, no dangerous, no nothing.

Well think as if you deployed you troops along the edge of a transport, that is how he treated a destroyed 6 result. Like I said, after the other disputes it just wasn't worth the effort anynore.

Someone did that to me the other day in a tournament. The thing is, do the models have to be entirely inside what used to be the vehicle? Realistically they'd be evenly spread out along where the transport used to be, but rules wise? I didn't dispute it because that was the only shifty thing that happened, and my opponent was a nice player, but I couldn't help but wonder. Is there a rule on this somewhere that is unambiguous?

I got into it with some people over at Dakka about it.

The rule says that you place the survivors where the vehicle used to be. Page 3 says that a model occupies its base. My reasoning is that if you only partially place the survivors where the vehicle used to be, you are also placing the survivorsl where the vehicle never was. The rule doesn't give you permission to partially place the survivors where the vehicle used to be. It boiled down to them saying because it doesn't say you can't, you could. In all my playiing, because it doesn't say you can't do something doesn't fly in rules disputes. I ended up asking the manager and most of the other players in the LGS and they agreed with me.

actually, just saturday i had a great day with my Wolves, and especially my lord Kjaran Coldheart.

i have been failing my saga (of the bear) of late, and that makes or breaks my game enjoyment (i like my sagas...see sig).

on saturday i played a BA player, killed Gabriel Seth in a single round of combat. Kjaran took 4 hits but no wounds from Seth, and my thunder hammer flattened him.

than, against a Nid player, took out both the Tyrnid Prime and the Swarm Lord. now my TWC had thrown themselves into the Prime and his 10+ Warrior unit, but failed to destroy it and were swallowed. i charged the Warriors with a GH pack, killed all but the Prime. then Kjaran charged in. took 3 hits but no wounds, and killed him in a single round again.

with the game on the line, a mawloc and the swarm lord were close enough to contest my 2 objectives, i moved a GH pack to charge the Mawloc (had 3 wounds left) and Kjaran took on the Swarm lord. took me 3 rounds of combat, and 2 wounds, but Kjaran slew the monster where he stood and turned around to find the GH pack punching the mawloc down the hole it came from!

so, 2 games on saturday, and completed my saga both times and got a extra kill for pride!

What if the transport's foot print is smaller than the squad's foot print?

I can't think of anything at the moment, just spit-balling.

That is pretty good day versus Nids.

I played a game once where Rune Priest used his force weapon to kill a Prime, even with the 3d6 for the psychic test. The other Prime got killed by a mob of GH with MoW and Powerfist and a Tervigon got killed the say way, via GH pack with PF and MoW.

I got into it with some people over at Dakka about it.

Personally I'd fill up the space where the transport used to be and just place the rest in coherency...

I had that happen to me where a player said that if he didnt have a crater then no difficult or dangerous terrain would occur in the spot where i destroyed his land raider crusader.

Checked with the judge and asked if i ripped a piece a paper to match the foot print of the vehicle , would that work.

The judge said yes and I made sure I had several blank sheets of paper with me the rest of the tournament.

If the crater didnt get put in place , his terminators would have been just able to charge my gh unit.

thank the lord for creative thinking.

The wolves have not been working so well for me lately to be honest. Entered a tournament of 36 players and came an embarassing 35th, two losses and a draw. I had some pretty bad luck and made a couple of choices which weren't amazing, like charging off an objective ater a dred with a unit if gh which only had one Power fist. It held the squad up for the whole game and i lost that obj to some outflanking scouts in a ls storm. But i had a blast, it was a great tournament and all my games were close ones.

What is the name of this tournament and where is it held? :)
