What has a lot of high strength, AP 1 firepower?

Fire dragons. Zoanthropes (although the lance efect will be ignored witch is nice but it is still str 10!) Land speeder, another land raider with multi melta, drop pod dreadnought. Oh my personal favoret, the Drop Pod 3 man combi melta wolf guard squad (after you put the cyclo in the long fangs and the PF/CM in the GH squad.) The railgun i belive? And the very nasty necron monolith? DE heatlances, although I do not think a lott of players will use them. So quite a bit. Moast armies have acess to it. Of course a weapon destroyed or an imobelice is funn to.

I think these would be especially nasty in the Armored Spearhead formation from Apocalypse. Between the bonus that formation gives, the inbuilt Extra Armor and the -1 to damage, that formation would be tough to slow down.

Broadside battlesuits, Captain Lysander, Ironclad Dreadnoughts, Codex Orbital Bombardments, =][= Lance Strikes.

That's a Spearhead not an Apocalypse Formation. Except in Apocalypse this poor, little lamb still has to hide from the big, bad Warhound packing a Turbolaser and his even scarier big brother Reaver packing a Laser Blaster. :P

... Eldar, Tau, Dark Eldar, Nidz, Apocalypse....... C:SM under a Vulkan build.

And all of them, all of them, have a reason to make this thing their number 1 target.

Though, I suppose if you factor that into your strategy its not a total loss, just an expensive one.

Ignoring the Tau death weapon of deadly doom, the Eldar and Dark Eldar have AP 2. I don't see any AP 1 on nids. Multi-Meltas and Meltas glance on a 6. That still means -2. Titans and Super-Heavies are normally fighting Titans and Super heavies

I was referring to the one on page 115 of the Apocalypse rulebook, the formation titled "Armored Spearhead". It is the one with 3+ Land Raiders.

And true, in Apocalypse the Achilles would be a target for Str D weapons, but there are ways to neutralise enemy Str D (by destroying it, or by giving it juicier targets).

D'Oh! Gotcha. Although the 5+ Inv. Save from the Spearhead rules Armored Spearhead would be even tougher.
