Will we see a Second Wave in 2011?

I was just looking over on the News and Rumors board and read that the Blood Angels are getting new models in early 2011.

Considering that GW didn't bother to update Ragnar, Ulrik, Logan or the Iron Priest Models or provide us with any Thunderwolves, I was wondering - when are we going to get a second wave? We could do with a Bjorn plastic Kit, a few more scout options in my opinion and maybe an update on those listed above.

I know GW dont work in terms of fairness but if anyone deserves a second wave it's us as it's been over a year now.

Any thoughts on this?

I understand your concerns, I mean even Dark Eldar has their second wave minis already previewed. But the dark kin have waited for their time in the spot light long enough. As for next year... the only guarantee we have are two new novels. And a forge world goodie in a form of Wolves vs. the Eldar = which common sense would conclude, more forge world space wolf stuff!

Dark Eldar I can fully understand and I actually think they look very good so they were worth the wait (emperor save me for complimenting the Xenos). But I would have thought that as wolves were released before the Blood Angels then we would see a second wave sooner!!

Still hopefully the Forgeworld stuff will be interesting and the new MK4 Ironclads look good for some converting. I just long for a decent ragnar sculpt thats all!!

I'd say it's because of the Stormraven leak, maybe they want to get it out and released now instead of waiting another year or half a year for something the public are going to complain about especially if we knows it's sitting there ready to go, ye know?

Personally, I'd rather the Wolves arrive =]

I honesty believe that GW have not released thunder wolves as they were not ready.

I think Canis was ready so they released him and were not prepared for the volume of negativity towards the model.

This has made then rethink the plastic kit which will get released but with a very significant delay. Maybe even near end of next year.

The longer a company waits to put out a product, the better it is for them to do the job correctly. I think GW is looking at the current Thunderwolf models outside of their GW range, to go from there. ie. Sony puts out an SLR camera, and so does Panasonic. They both compete with the current tech and consumer demands. Canon holds off and looks at both Sony and Panasonic, to combine the pro's of both SLR into their camera, making it better than the first two. So I'm hoping GW will do justice with the second wave Space Wolves minis. If all else fails, Forge World is the way to go!

According to the latest rumour milling over on warseer, the Space Wolves and Eldar book, IA11, is rumoured to be around March sometime, and that GW has expressly asked FW not to do thunder wolves. The conjecture flying around is that this means GW has a release planned for those, hopefully similarly timed. I certainly hope that the timing is correct, but I'm not holding my breath.

I've got a fairly decent FW addiction, so I reckon on picking up whatever they do regardless. GW's recent efforts have been pretty outstanding as well. So, I'll probably pick up whatever they release, whenever they do. Wolves are my primary army, and if there a good figures released, I'll pick them up simply to enjoy painting them.

Would love a new Ragnar sculpt myself.

I have to agree with what Maverik has written, especially when you consider the fiasco and bad feedback they got from the Canis Wolfborn model. I think they are finally listening and want to do it right. (At least that's what I hope).

I'd like to see an FW take on Bjorn - or maybe another indpendant character like a new Wolf Priest maybe! Anyway I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens in IA11.

And regarding the Canis Model, the wolf was pretty bad looking - Mr Dandy does some cracking wolf models but at about £60 for the five different variants they are very pricey. Let's hope GW's are as good if not better and in the £20-£30 mark!

I would not trust GW to come up with an affordable solution to Thunder Wolves as they have never really even made up our own fenrisians after 11+ years. The box set would come in a 3 pack probably and have certain weapons omitted. We need a new Bjorn and Logan. The Greyhunter boxes are amazing until you realize there are no flamers or meltas, seriously :P!

really? you think 60 quid for 5 models is pricey, bearing in mind GW will prob do 2 models for 25 quid just to be contrary, or 1 model for 20......

and the reason BA are getting there shiznit out then is partly 2nd wave and partly as grey knoghts will be out at that point, and will also use the storm raven.

@narf - regarding the pricing I think £60 (not including shipping whichs is about £7-12 ontop of that) is quite a lot for 5 models when you compare it to the Space Marine or Space Wolf Battle forces at £50 each.

Don't get me wrong I'm planning on dropping the £60+ for the models as I think they look great and my gut feel tells me that GW will probably do them in metal anyways considering the Canis Model and the amount they would have to shift to make plastic cost effective!

I also think that GW is waiting for FW to drop IA 11 to release the second wave on models. If you think along the lines of the amount of "new releases" out right now, there is little to no reason for them to rush the second wave out. They are making good money right now what with the new Deamons models/codex and then entire new line of Dark Eldar. Plus as already mentioned, Grey Knights rumored along with Tau (again, only a rumor I heard) early next year. We just sit, wait, and drink more ale.

As for the official release of Thunderwolves: packs of three, fifty dollars plus american, and if they come out before September of 2011, I'll shave off every hair on my hairy body!!

As far as the FW release to coincide the IA 11, I hope we get the tower hulk of the man they call Rockfist.

5 thunderwolves?

I think we are far more likeley three in the box. Refer to the plastic Blood Crushers as the standard.

Knowing GW, I'd rather expect 2 TWC per box, so that if You want to field three, You have to buy 3 boxes, or if You want to field just one as the TWL, You still have to overpay for buying just one box.
