winterdyne
Quick photoshop job: http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/aquila_example.jpg Use thinned brown/black mix - straight black can be too harsh. Have very little on your brush - you're not doing a wash, but you want your strokes to be translucent. Build up the lines with several passes. You can always sharpen up later with your base colour if you want. 1: Draw an inverted cross at the centre of where you want the aquila to be. 2: Bulk it out to be a triangle above the cross line. Add 2 short diagonal lines to the bottom - these will be the tail feathers. 3: Add the heads - these are basically short 7's with a thick top. 4: Add two small x's connected to the bottom corners of the triangle. These are the claws. 5: Mark the curves of the inner wing - they go from under the neck to above the apex of the 7s forming the head. 6: Add straight lines onto the curves to be the upper and inner feathers. 7: Add feathers starting from either side, and work both sides simultaneously, this helps keep the spacing even on both sides. 8: Add the remaining feathers and extend the tail feathers a bit so they look good. Hope this helps. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215535-painting-aquilas/#findComment-2569206 Share on other sites
