Iron-Daemon Forge
Taught never to retreat, never to surrender. Taught that death on the battlefield for a Space Wolves was the greatest glory he could achieve in his life Throne of Skulls UKGT 2010 Hi everone Once more welcome to another tournament report. Those that once knew peace now knew only war. With their homes destroyed by the foes of the Imperial, hope faded & the population were led into the shadow of despair. Asgard VII Prime was left defenceless. But there was salvation, a light in these darkest times. They arrived from the sky, those warriors of the mighty Space Wolves, warriors who can set fear into the very heart of evil. We fought, we fought for our dead, we fought for the very earth we stood upon, we spilt their blood, we fought for the Imperial, for Russ & the All Father. We may be few & our enemies many, yet so long as there remains one of us still fighting, one who still rages in the name of justice & truth, then by the All Father, Asgard VII Prime shall yet know hope. Saga of Asgard VII Prime by Dreadnought, Rothgar the Wolf Guard & Skald of the 5th Great Company. The 5th Great Company is an incredibly mobile battle force, able to reach threatened zones swiftly. The array of purity seals, trophies & runes adorning the vehicles, Dreadnoughts & power armour of the Space Marines show the experience & resolve of the 5th Great Company over many successful campaigns. Leonidas Buliwyf Wolf Lord of the 5th Great Company has sent a small task force led by Rune Priest Dilios Gunnar to investigate what threat the planet Asgard VII Prime is faced with. They started their campaign on Asgard VII Prime to bring the light of hope back to this darkened world. Rune Priest Dilios has been of great consul toward Leonidas Buliwyf, offering advice & wisdom. Even all those year ago when Dilios was a mere Blood claw, he was level headed & has the gift of using psychic power, if you can say that about the young Blood Claws. He always had the eyes of the Rune Priest on him. Since arriving upon the soil of Asgard VII Prime, Rune Priest Dilios had noticed that there was a strange energy drawing the foes of the Imperial to the planet. Many races are drawn toward this world all seeking to claim the relic of this planet; from the barbaric Orks who only lust for war, the twisted Dark Eldar always looking for slave & game, Eldar who are untrustworthy, Tyranids who only seek to consume everything in front them to the corrupted servants of Chaos who seek revenge on those they once served. It seemed there was some form of secret hidden on the planet. There is so much more to the world than the average eye is allowed to see. Some say this secret has been there since the days of the Great Crusade when the mighty Emperor of Mankind walked the earth, a relic that cannot fall into the foe of the Imperial. While others say there is a nameless evil resting in the world of Asgard VII Prime, a terrible being, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. Nothing could stop it or hold it or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky & tear down your world as legend would say. One thing is certain, the Space Wolves have allies in this darkest time. Rune Priest Dilios has sent Squad Hrolf to scout ahead of the main force. During their scout mission, squad Hrolf were ambushed & were badly wounded. When the Space Wolves strike force arrived, Dilios saw that the unit of Grey Hunter were saved by fellow Space Marines. Their armour was as Black as the void; their armour was covered in the flames of Redemption & the bones of Vengeance. Bullets seem to past through these mysterious Space Marines. Once Squad Hrolf was saved they left behind only a pile of slaughtered Imperial foe; yet not a single Black Space Marine lay on the ground, they vanished as though they had never been there in the first place. Rune Priest Dilios has heard many stories. He knows these Space Marines to be called Legion of the Damned, rumoured to be from the Fire Hawks Chapter, who went missing in the Warp…. In the past I have always taken my Iron Warriors, being my favrout force, a army I trusted on the battle field. But for this year tournament session I though I take a little break from them & try a new army, the army of the Wolves. I pick the Space Wolves as there one of the most convertible chapter out there, they like there close combat & some of the best background around. But the main part is the conversion as that is my favrout part of the hobby & always been my main strength. So onto the story of the ToS UK. Now when doing tournament reports, I do not do a turn by turn account just a brife over view. Also I just woke up, return to Scotland around 10pm last night with very little sleep thank to some :P in the hotel around 1am to 4am being very loud & slam doors Like wise I have more photos than anything else :P Road trip So liveing in Scotland & the ToS being in Nottingham, I had a bit of a trip there. So on the Fri met up with my two friends, Iain & Iain that 9am & we would be on a 4 hour trip down to Nottingham. Upon arrive to Nottingham my friend Iain had ask for a game with his brand new Blood Angels army, so he can get tips & feedback for the weekend ahead. So what best place to start than the battle vs the Angels of Death, the Blood Angels. Also upon reaching Nottingham, it got pretty foggy for the next few days to come. "Our arrows will blot out the sun!" "Then we will fight in the shade." Mission - Kill Points Set up - Pitch Battle Army - Blood Angels, Tycho, Chaplain, 3x Sanguinary Guards, 2x Assault squads in Drop Pods, 3 Dreadnoughts (can't rememeber which type, but sure Iain will keep me right :) ) with Pods, 6 Devastators So I would be battle a old rival army of my Iron Warriors, but with a new codex that was just updated recently this year. After we set up, me with my complete Space Wolves force & Iain with a unit of Devastators. I mange to steal the first turn, as I knew I'd have to move out & be ready for the time when Iain army arrive in the Pods of doom. As the turns follow on, the Drop pods all landed, making there mark & unloading the Angels of Death into the mist of my battle lines. As they all got out of there pods, my Space Wolves would be waiting like a pack of Wolves, waiting to make the strike & take each element of Iain Blood Angels bit by bit. Though one of the Dreadnought I assaulted, this lasted from turn 2 to turn 5? nether of us able to make out mark. So while the bitter close combat was come to a close, take heavy toll on each other. The game ended on turn 5 & it ended with me having 12 Kill points vs 4 of my army KPts. A win to the might Space Wolves. After the game me & Iain talk about the weekend to come, how our armies would do & just going through some stuff that may turn up in regard to a rule. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08022.jpg Iain set up http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08023.jpg My set up http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08024.jpg Turn 1 http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08025.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08026.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08027.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08028.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08029.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08030.jpg Just there the barbarians huddle, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers... knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of three hundred. Yet they stare now across the plain at *ten thousand* Spartans commanding thirty thousand free Greeks! HA-OOH! http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08031.jpg My Wolves next assault http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08032.jpg The never ending combat between the Dreadnought & a unit of my Grey Hunters http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08033.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08034.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08035.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08036.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08037.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08038.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08039.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08040.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08041.jpg So with the game over & my other friend game just about finish. It was time to sign in to the event for the weekend. Then we would be going for some food, which was in pizza hut due to the usely place being close to be re-done. Then to settle into our hotel. Next Round 1 & the weekend starts. IP Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215563-throne-of-skulls-ukgt-2010/ Share on other sites
Iron-Daemon Forge
Round 1 - The enemy outnumber us a paltry three to one, good odds for any Space Wolf Oppent - Johannes Flem (sp?) Mission - 1 object each, spearhead set up (I would see many more Spear set up) Army - Imperial Guards, Command in tanks, Psycher in Tank, 2 Demolisher Leman Russ, 1 Veteran unit in tank, Specil weapon unit in a Valyrie, Hellhound. I think that it along with specil/heavy weapons of course :P Also platoon before I forget So it Sat moring, to earily in the moring being 7.30am. Me & my friends are getting ready to go to Nottingham, find our tables & get ready for the day ahead. My oppent Johannes arrive to the table & found out he would be useing the might Imperial Guard force. I really enjoy this game, was very blood on all accounts. Johannes protect his object very well with a combi platoon, while his Leman Russ where as far as the set up would allow them to set up. While myself I set up behind as much terrain as possible. Also I think Johannes had made me set up & go first, still trying to fully awake right now. As the game started, I went straigh forward with my tanks going full speed & fire smoke to protect me a little bit. While I left my Heavy Bolter Razorback & my 2x Dreadnought to hold my own object just in the event anything got through. While on Johannes turn he mange to immobile one of my Razorback & took the weapon of the other. While the rest of his army where trying to stop the rush of my Tanks. Else where my Land Speeder where trying to flank his left, hunting down the platoon & with the aim of contesting his object. But sadily they got taken down with the combi Platoon Lascannons. While my tanks that did make it into his lines unload the troops with in, show the Guard what true fear was. It ended with the Space Wolvs slaughter his command squad & veteran squad. With the Land Speeder destroy, it seem there was no unit to contest his object. Until I spot behind the wood, my Razorback with no weapon. In a last ditch this tank shook his platoon on turn 5, then the game went onto turn 6 which saw me ram one of his tanks that was block the path to the object. The game ended on turn 6, but if it went on, I might have contest the object, but same time there was still 3x Lascannon & a few other weapons, so who know what could have happen & how the dice might have work out. Sorry Johannes if I miss out anything. Really enjoy this game & it was good battle the Guard. Johannes Guard army was really cool, I had a good look as there a lot of nice conversion & the base he use are really cool. Also I know what you mean Johannes in regard to the way the lighting was on the armies. So here some photos of the game http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08042.jpg My set up http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08043.jpg Johannes set up http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08044.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08045.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08046.jpg When I assault the command unit http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08048.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08049.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08050.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08051.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08052.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08053.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08054.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08055.jpg So with the game ended, it was time to set up our armies for the Ref/event team to pick out armies to be among the top 10 best painted armies. I will have a link to the rest of the photos/armies for people to check once the battle report done, also mean all the photos will be uploaded by then, as right now just up load photos of each round. But for the time being here mine & Johannes http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08056.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08057.jpg Also while the event team went around the tables, it was time for 150+ games to get launch. Got to say this year food was really dcent, not as good as 2007, but really good compaired to last year. But nothing as worst as UKGT 2006. So I was happy, well feed. Also during Round 1, we had the Bugman Staff go around taken order for drinks, bring them into the gaming hall for us which was really cool. So after launch & the armies being pick, it was time to pack up & get ready for ROUND 2!!!!!!!!!! Iron-Daemon Forge
Round 2 First War for Armageddon...... Mk2!!!!! Oppent: Ole A Helstrup Mission: d3+2 object, Spearhead Army - Daemons, I have Ole list right here as he handed a copy out: 2x Bloodthrister, 2x 4 Bloodcrusher, 2x 8 Bloodletter, 2x Daemon Prince. Overall 8 units, 4 big monster, 8 Blood Crusher, 16 Bloodletter, 8 is the favour number of Khorne. Got to say I really like how Ole done this list & had the Daemons to be all Khorne. So after round 1 was finish, we had all had our launch & our armies had been judge. It was time to go onto the next round. I seen that I would be battle Ole & his Khorne Daemons. Prise be Russ..... I finial get to use my Rune Priest 2+ to wound Force Weapon. It also turn out Ole travel with his friend Johannes Flem who I fought in round 1, they along with another two of there friend travel from Norway. So upon check the army list out, I commented to Ole that this feel like the First War for Armageddon. Pretty much the game wise a slaughter fest, I don't even think I shot that much with my Grey Hunter overall. They seen more close combat than anything else. The game ended on a draw & pretty much all that was left was all my tanks & one Wolf Guard. While Ole had 5 Bloodletter. Was really hard trying to take down those Bloodthrister, Daemon Prince & bloodcrusher. But I also have to feel sorry for Ole as Khorne did not favour him on one stage. The lone Wolf Guard, he was going to assault him with a Daemon Prince who was on one wound, but my WG being in terrain.........since the DP has wings he rolled one dice. The dice turn up 1, the Daemon Prince after slaughter many of my Grey Hunter got killed on a bit of rock, not the way any Khorne Champion would like to have gone. But got to say it has been agies since I had a game where both side barely had anything alive Set up http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08146.jpg Turn 1 http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08147.jpg Daemons start show from the warp http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08148.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08149.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08150.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08151.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08152.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08153.jpg Sorry did not seem I did not take to many photos there, the game was really fun & that bloody. I should really have gotten that lone Wolf Guard & 5 Bloodletter photo that was epic :D With round 2 over & being on two draws. It was once more time to get the army pack & ready for Round 3, the last game for day 1, as ToS is a two day event. Iron-Daemon Forge
Round 3 The All-Father wove the skein of your life a long time ago Oppent - Daniel Kiff Mission - d3+2 Object, Dawn of War Army Salamander, Vulken, Thunder Hammer Terminators, Redeemer, 2x Tactical squads in Rhinos, Scouts in Speeder Storm, Attack Bike, Speeder, Vindcator The last game for day one & it would be against the Salamander. Last time I battle the Salamander was that Rapid Fire last month, once more I'll be battle the Marines in green. Again another great game. Daniel luck with the dice was great, he destroyed a lot of my tanks, not a single one would surive any shots. While it seem my Dreadnought Odin has got a new habit. Basicly vs Trygon, his Plasma Cannon alway gose back on him self, he charge & failed to hit, it the S3 that kill Trygon. But with Vulke, like Rapid Fire, he alway seem to be the one who kill him :D I had to feel sorry for Deniel when I fire into his Thunder Hammer terminators & they got killed by Plasma Cannon & Rapid Fire bolter ;) While else where I was trying to open his own tank with little luck in return :D That the end of the game I was left with a lone Grey Hunter, Wolf Guard & a Dreadnought. Loss, but like the last two round was a great game http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08155.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08156.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08158.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08159.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08160.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08161.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08164.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08165.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08166.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08167.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08168.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08169.jpg So with Day 1 of the tournament done. It was time to pack up & get our Dinner in Bugman bar & general chill out, talk to people, etc.... Then it would be another earily wake up for the Sunday, for the finial day of the weekend for the event. Iron-Daemon Forge
Round 4 Remember this day, men, for it will be yours for all time. Oppent David Ralton Mission - d3 Object, SPEARHEAD...Ahhhh!!! <_< Army - Daemons, Fatewaver, Daemon Prince of Khorne, Daemon Prince of Nurgle, Horror with Changling, Bloodletters, Bloodcrusher, Nurgle troops. On too day two & find out I will be battle a fellow Scottish gamer. David was part of team that came from Aberdeen & I know a fair few from past event & my own gaming club tournament Rapid Fire. So find out he had Daemons, once more I am happy as I finial get to use my Rune Priest force weapon. However fate was against my Rune Priest as Fatewave took him to the warp, but being that there the same I, my Rune Priest mange to do some damnage & also save my Grey Hunter from that same fate. Upon seen the Rune Priest being killed, the Grey Hunter rage of the Wulfen over took them, kill this Daemon. If that was not enough, they where assaulted by a Daemon prince & nurgle unit who where trying to save there master. I took heavy loss & when it came to Ld, a Lone Wolf Guard roll double 1's, he was stay in there, slaughter all in his finial breath before the Daemon Prince rip his head off, take the skull to the Throne of Khorne It seem during this game we both started to pray, David to the Chaos Gods, me to Russ & the all father. Just one part was, I had a lone Wolf Guard, the last of my troops. Just he took down David Nurgle Daemon prince, follow this he was then assaulted by the Nurgle troops & I made ever single save know to many. It was as though Russ him self granted this lone Wolf Guard strength. So upon seen this, the Bloodcrusher saw this as a worth opppent, run in & chop his head off. I was only down to my tanks & mange to contest all object where David had place troops. But as he pray to Khorne, he destroyed one of my tanks & won by one obejct in the end http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08172.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08173.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08174.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08176.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08177.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08179.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08180.jpg The lone Wolf Guard taken on the odds http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08181.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08182.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08183.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08184.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee412/JFmodel/ToS10/DSC08185.jpg So with round 4 over with, I was told I was one of ten armies for the top 10 best painted armies. This is somthing I been aim for in years & was very happy to hear this. So after round 4 I was to set up my army on the top tables so people could go see it along with the other armies. On top this my friend Richy, his friend James & my friend Paul Scott where also up there as well. Richy had the Techpriest count as Nids force. James had Sanguinary Guards & Paul Scott had Death Guards which you can see on the what new today blog. But for now I will get the finial round done, then a post with my army set up. Iron-Daemon Forge
Round 5 Into the Jaws of the Wolf Oppent Rob Waller Mission - One object each, Spearhead :( :D Army - Space Wolves, 2x Rune priest, 2 unit of Long Fangs, unit of Wolf Guards = Pack leader & the rest was made of Grey Hunter. There was a grand total of 60ish models, lot of Marines there ;) The last round has arrive. My mind was a little bit everwhere as I just pack my army from the top table where it was on display along with the other 9 armies up for the best painted award. Like wise with this being the last round I just wanted to kill stuff & not worry about the mission so much as I was not on the top tables, so nothing to loss or gain, just wanted a nice relax fun game. Like the Salamander battle, Rob mange to take out a lot of my tanks on turn 1 with his Long Fang units, while his Grey Hunter where move very fast toward my own army. Luck the Rhino mount unit was still around & able to get into the thinkess part of the battle, while the rest of my other Grey Hunter units where gunned down on turn 2. Only mange to kill a squad before being gun down by a further 20 or so Grey hunter from Rob army. With most of my army near wipe out on turn 3, it was time to make a last stand hold my own object with both Dreadnought & heavy Bolter Razorback. While else where I had a Rhino with no Storm Bolter going around the place. This Rhino was immobile, but it seem Russ & the All Father protected & I un-immobile it, but luck would take that away from me as one of Rob Grey Hunter units went & flank the tank destroy it with double Plasma Guns?? In the end the Wolves of Rob army got onto my object, while my Grey Hunter unit had there Razorback destroyed by Long Fangs, then gun down by a unit of Grey Hunter w/Wolf Guard. It was all down to one Dreadnought who had loss his Dread CCW, but it seem he could not hit that all despit needing 3+ (Wolf tooth) I keep getting 1's or 2's. So seen this Dreadnought hold up one of his own unit, Rob sent another unit of Grey Hunter, the once that just gun down my own baby sitting object unit. The Dreadnought met his fate with two Power Fist rip him apart. A great game overall & it was a tough army with 60ish Marines in total. It look really cool on the table top, also Rob had this as his own Chapter, useing the FW Raven Guard upgread packs & mix with some Space Wolves bits. Look really cool, just I rememeber a topic in SW area where they where asking about the RG pack & mix them, it really dose work & well worth trying out. http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08239.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08240.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08241.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08243.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08244.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08245.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08246.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08247.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08248.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08249.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08250.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08251.jpg Dreadnought making ready for it last stand http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08252.jpg My last Two grey Hunter http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08254.jpg Russ & the all father protect http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08253.jpg Last turn http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08255.jpg So I loss with my army slaughter. But overall I had a brillaint weekend, five brillaint oppents on all accounts. The two Daemons player offer a very blood battle with barely anything alive for exsample. Really enjoy my weekend, met many old friends & hopeful made some new friends. I would highly recommend tournament to anyone. Ignore all the moan, as end of the day how often do most of those moaner attended anyway?? My belife in the wargaming world is, if it legal & you like taken the unit or model, go ahead as long as you have a good attuide/good sport. Just I am not a big fan of comp for exsample or people being bad losser. End of the day learn, improve, know the list inside & out. But first & formost alway alway have fun. As seen there I had two draws & 3 loss, while in other event I had two wins & a draw in one day tournament, main thing is I alway had a good laught & enjoy the games. I belive I only ever face two games in a tournament I'd ever refuse to battle those people ever again. While the number of bad oppent I met else where/not in tournament out weight this so many times over. But like I said I'd really recommend tournament, there a good laught, you play diffrent armies & in that it keep the hobby alive for you do your not battle Marine & ork for excsample in your local area for months on end. Then add onto this you see some brillaint painted armies which give you further idea & again if painting the side you like, you get a lot of great feedback to use in order to improve your standard, also get a lot of tips not a lot of people know about. When I pick a army, I like to think how each unit will help me deal with any threat & add onto that what would make a cool conversion. Dreadnought for exsample, I had a lot of people comment about dropping them. But end of the day they 1: Add a focuse point model wise 2: I like dreadnought & converted these from Venrable & normal Dreadnought bits 3: game wise they can deal well vs Bloodcrusher who are only S5, would run over your basic units, charge a Dreadnought into there & they can not do anything that all?? While the rest of your army deal with stuff like the bigger Daemons so they do not threaten your Dreadnought. Need to think about the whole army, how each unit work. But again a great weekend, very happy with five brillaint oppent during the tournament. Also very happy to be up on top 10 for best painted army which I'll post after this. I think I might be looking to the April Throne of Skulls, not sure what army as it down to time, then possible a brand new army near the end of the year. I really like Eddie Blood Angels & it has given me some idea as I need to get a BA army done anyway for Conflict Scotland, or I have a brand new Wolf Wing army I am collecting for Christmas, see what cool stuff I can do with that. So get a post on my Wolves & being on top 10 best painted armies :D IP Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215563-throne-of-skulls-ukgt-2010/#findComment-2568903 Share on other sites
Iron-Daemon Forge
Top 10 Best Painted armies Now I just done a lot of photo up load on photo bucket. It now time for the Best painted part. As said my army was pick as part of the top 10 armies for best painted army. I am really happy with this in ever single way. For the 9 year I been doing tournaments, it has alway been my goal to be part of the elites as it where, those who made brillaint armies. For me, on the gaming side I do like to have a challenge & hopeful a challenge toward my oppents :) but I know I will not be 1st place, been 2nd place a few time of course. But it is alway the painting part that I alway aim for. 2008 up to now has seem me rake in these awards now to a point my wall is full of plack, etc... of tournament or painting comp I been to. So on Sat I keep asking how my army done if they could tell me anything or feedback so that I can improve. But the event team where keep all quite not tell anyone. So upon Sunday moring, I hear my ticket No & my name being called out. Was very happy with this just to be among the top 10. Just thing is I am a big fan of all full converted armies, like George Dellapina Wolves, Orks, Guards or Christain Bryne Black Legion as a few exsample. As conversion has alway been my main strength, I even went into a NQ to HNQ model making course so I could exspain my skills. It also why I alway look for cool armies on the fourms. As to be honsty I am really sick & tired of all the anti GW topic that moan for the sake of moan, no solid back bone or looking why stuff done the way it is. Just plain up moan. Samanagol Blood Angels & Grey Knight topics recently have been a great place for futher idea So was happy. Also I got told my army would be set up on table 1. I though being on table 2 was the highest I'd be on all day as well ;) http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/DSC08261.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/Armies/DSC08187.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/Armies/DSC08186.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/Armies/DSC08188.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/Armies/DSC08189.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/Armies/DSC08190.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/Armies/DSC08191.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ToS10/Armies/DSC08192.jpg For this year tournament session I pick Space Wolves for a number of reason First & formost was the conversion, Space Wolves are the biggest Space Marines army in regard to doing a lot of conversion, adding trophies & getting away with it. Second, there a lot more freedom on painting as a lot of the Great Wolves company can do as they please. Third, game wise. Phil Kelly done a BRILLAINT job on codex Wolves, there so much to go. Why Christmas I will be starting a Wolf Wing army. But Wolves play with my style of gaming which is pretty much to go into the middle of my oppent army & break there face in. I hate hideing, I will never play tau due to the jump shot jump. Also Tank, Wolves are best suited as one of the top tank armies out there in my view, mech force. I pick a lot of units that I though done well & look great. As said above my belive is to take unit you like game with, know how to use them. There a lot of stuff to my Wolves model wise, like the Legion of the Damned object marker which is exsample on the background there, also make life easy when play game as in a tournament your mind to focuse & you can end up forgetting set thing. Black Helmet is a honour mark, again with my army background, it look dark for them death will be upon them. So Black Helmet in honour toward the gate of Death the Wolves belive in. I got a lot of blue-ish viking rune. This is to warn away the evil that is in the warp, also to act as honour marker, again with my background, Asgard VII Prime in a very dark place, the light of the Imperial is failing. It a last stand for the only force near bu. But overall I am very happy, knew I would not win over all as the Eldar army that won was brillaint, perfect in ever single way. Also well done, the Greek's where ver solid/good people to talk to through out the weekend. Like wise I was happy my friend Rich & Paul Scott where also up there with me on the top 10 for painting. You can see more photos here http://s626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/I...mies/?start=all So that my report, hope everone like it. Again thank for ALL five off my oppent during Throne of Skulls as I really had some of the best games I not had in a while. Hope if you do read the reports you like them & enjoy the photos of your armies. Now to work on what to do for next one. Next tournaent in GT double in Feb where my Wolves will be team with Dark Angels. After that Conflict Scotland with double Blood Angels.
