Tanhausen
Don't know what pigiron is (I guess silver xD) but... sounds you're doing it in an easy and correct fashion. Maybe a pic? daismith906
Ill post some pics later What do you suggest for battle damage as most people use silver to simulate battle damage which wouldnt work on my minis? Tanhausen
Either scrathes (black line, a very soft silver towards the edge and maybe some white higlight to give it depth) or thinking of what is beneath your shiny silver armour (maybe black and then clear grey on the sponge?). I'm a pretty "meh" painter myself...I lack the patience... not much more help I can offer I think. Firepower
I've wondered about this myself (more specifically for gold, but metallics all the same). For silver, the fine line technique may work, but I'd recommend browns instead of black and white, which would likely just blend in with the silver too much. Sugamonster
you could try a flat grey - like fortress - i remember some fluff saying that all suits come from the admechs and are then painted by the chapter's artesians. I think that a neutral grey would deffintely be the way to go with a really bright silver - not sure about a dull one. WingsOfTheFalcon
Similar issues with my Iron Snakes, my approach is to paint the damage in a 50/50 mix of boltgun metal and black, then highlight the lower edge with mithril.
