so the question I got is, do I need 5 more?

I usualy play 1750 - 1850 games. I currently own a bit of everything but my heavy syport choise will always be the long fangs. But do I really need more missile launchers? I usualy run mech light so the whirldwind I am not so keen on.

What I am considering is getting a squad with 3 heavy bolters and 2 plasma cannons. Or you know. Just get a lascannon into each of the two squads and get 2 more missile launchers. What do you think?

I know it depends on the list but it seems to me, that getting more then 10 missile launchers just sucks if you meet something that as a lott of armour 2 (I am looking at you nids!) or just a lott of hammer temrinators.

I usually run one squad with 5 MLs and one with 5 HBs. With meltaguns and other stuff I really dont need any more. I have been thinking about adding a 3rd pack with 5 MLs, but I rather just add a CML to the ML squad and that is it.

Well as you stated yourself, it depends on your own gusto. But 15 missile launchers, that's a little much, I'd rather vote for some variety, Heavy Bolters and Plasma cannons are nice additions.

As for two kinds of heavy weapons in one squad, I always split them 2 to 3, I find it's making the best of the split fire rule.

Like 2 las cannons and 3 missile launchers or vice versa depending on my mood, the overall points and the enemy.

The Cyclone Wolfguard is also a nice option for more missiles per turn as brother "Cain the Hunter" rightly stated.

That was what I was thinking also. That is use one with plasma cannons/bolters.

do anybody give there longfangs any transports? I usualy just walk with them. I am thinking of giving the 2xplasma 3xheavy bolters a drop pod. That way I can drop a dreadnought/melta WG or GH later on.

What dio you give the regular Long Fangs? An upgraded razorback? I can't decide what is best, auto cannons, laser/plasma or just plasma. Although withouth a laser on the long fangs laserback might be better? Or none at all.

you might get some low sportsmanship scores.

That's a bit sad. Glad we don't use that crap over here though.

I'd rather the versatility and the range of the Missiles over the Plasma Cannon/HB combo. There's also the added bonus of not killing yourself!

Sportmanship should not be about army composition. That has a separate score :) We use both around here, and it works like a charm. US players tend to throw some hate on us, tough ;)

I have never played with P-Cannons or L-Cannons in my lists, but TBH I dont see their use that much. ML and HB is a lot better, since they are cheap and do mostly the same thing (complimented by meltas and plasma in GH squads).

I tell you what, my 5 heavy bolter pack has done some serious rightousness in many a game and they are often overlooked with the other packs dishing out the heavier stuff. When you start rolling 15 dice for those shots there is some kind of warm fuzzy feeling that goes along with it, lol. As for transports if the points allow I will give a Razor to a pack, but generally they are hoofing it.

As far as transports go, sometimes I give one squad a razorback, either with twin linked las cannons or the twin linked assault cannons.

I would like a twin plas-las Razorback, but I didn't make a turret yet.

The twin flamer setup seems a waste, but maybe that's just me.

The transport is then used for hunting by itself or to move my PA Lone Wolf to the frontline.
