ADB wants World Eaters

...and if the other said says no, then **** will go down.

Well, there is a transition period. The compliance begins with rubber chainaxes and beanbag bolter rounds, but steadily escalates if nonlethal means don't produce results. ^_^

I just pictured the Emperor's finest wielding pool noodles. Let the compliance commence!

I read this thread and keep mentally cringing thinking "don't give ADB a hard time - he might stop writing kick-ass books!"

ADB is a big boy. He even said it himself no matter what anyone says, he's still going to write books the way he wants to. Take heart!

Naw, I mean, firstly, I get a pretty humbling and awesome reaction from 40k forums anyway, especially on the Bolter & Chainsword. So I have no right to complain, even if I wanted to whine. And secondly, even when Zynk was disagreeing with me, he was doing it in detailed, considered opinions with specific criteria for what he likes and what he wanted, with fair and reasonable expectations. (And it turns out we ended up agreeing, anyway.) When you get that kind of clear, smart disagreement, it's a blessing, not a curse.

What would be annoying is "LOL U ARE USELESS BYE."

I can't see that happening, ADB. No one typing in leetspeak would bother fully spelling the words "are" and "useless." ^_^

But a little more on-topic, I can imagine that it's difficult to find the right balance between matching a character to their Legion and still providing some measure of characterization that's different and good for storytelling. After De'shea did fairly well with this, I think, showing off Angron's "roar-argh-smash!" side without setting up as a blood-drunk berzerker who loves only to kill (such as was seen in the Galaxy in Flames). I think you did an excellent job of this in both Helreach and Soul Hunter, showing off the attributes and mindsets of the Legion/Chapter involved without making them cookie-cutter-stereotypical, so I for one think you'll do just as well if you do indeed get the World Eaters as your next subject.

I could see this working. I am a big fan of the way Mr. Dembski writes. I like how he doesn't add violence for the sake of violence. And I think that is the kind of touch that the World Eaters need. I would like to finally see them in a light that makes them look like intelligent Astartes, not the spastic retards they are seen as.

I think a good example of this is Soul Hunter. The entire book could have been just talking, and I would have been okay with that. The characters had depth to them, and I would love to have a good World Eaters character who more to him than "AAAARGH MURDER EVERYTHING!' Y'know, like he has a brain and stuff.

I think there is plenty of scope for a World Eaters book that isnt all blood and guts...

People forget that in some of the fluff when it discusses Khorne, it states that it would be foolish to think of Khornes daemons (Bloodthirsters in particular) as mindless lunatics...... they are highly intelligent..... its just that they apply their intelligence wholeheartedly to the art of killing.

Very similar to how a psychopath will often be very intelligent....... killing in the most efficient way possible and getting away with it takes brains!

I see no reason a World Eaters novel cannot borrow on this logic....
