SgtTelion
Hi Guys, As the topic suggests, I'm laying my first proper game with my Wolves tomorrow and I'm looking for a bit of help. I have barely played many games using the curent ruleset either! Tomorrow I'm playing the owner of Firestorm games in Cardiff, against his Khorne army. I already know a little about his army, namely i know Kharne is in it, and a defiler too. Plus a land raider and god knows what else. I have tried building a nice balanced list to play with - so please let me know what you think! I really need the Help. HQ Rune Priest (Chooser of the Slain, Wolftail Talisman, Wolftooth Necklace) 125pts Accompanying him is a 5 man GH squad (Meltagun, Mark of the Wulfen, Wolf Standard) + a Razorback. = 145pts Wolf Priest (Runic Armour, Jump Pack, Meltabombs) = 150pts Accompanying him is a 10 man Sky Claws Pack. (Mark of the Wulfen, Powerfist, Meltagun) = 230pts Elite Wolf Guard x 3 (all with Combi Melta and Powerfist) = 129pts 2 of these guys will accompany the 9 man GH squads, and the other will jump in with the scouts. Wolf Scouts x5 (Meltagun, Bolt Pistol and CCW) = 85pts Heavy Long Fangs x6 (With squad leader and 5x Missile Launchers) + Razorback with Twin Linked Lascannon = 215pts Long Fangs x6 (With squad leader and 5x Missile Launchers) + Razorback with Twin Linked Lascannon = 215pts Core Grey Hunters x9 (Powerfist, Mark of the Wulfen, Wolf Standard, Meltagun) + Rhino = 225pts Grey Hunters x9 (Powerfist, Mark of the Wulfen, Wolf Standard, Meltagun) + Rhino = 225pts Total = 1744 My plans are to leave the Long Fangs at the back, firing off 10 missile launchers per turn, plus the two TL Lascannons from the razorbacks. The Two large squads of grey hunters will attempt to rush across the board in the rhinos and get to grips with the enemy, with the wolf guard leading them. The SkyClaws and Wolf Priest will most likely seek and find the largest, most dangerous unit on the board and attempt to hit it quick! The scouts, with a bit of luck will enter play from the opponents table edge, and use the meltagun to attempt to knock out a tank before the game starts properly. The small unit of Grey Hunters with the Razorback and Rune Priest will aid any of the units that might get into trouble. Thats the general Plan... Anybody got any ideas? Anything i should change? Which of these units is best to try and deal with Kharne the Betrayer? Cheers Guys, I'm desperate for some feedback!! CainTheHunter
1. You don't want them charging you. Don't rush ahead, make him come to You. 2. Fire lascannons to stop that Land Raider, cause Khârn most probably is in there with his chaps. Once they are on foot, they are a bit slower but still that crazy. 3. You must immobilise him and slow him down, so You can soften his berserks up before taking them close and personal. 4. Something in Your list is strange - You sure You put all down there? Or You investing too much in toys? I am asking, because two GH packs are not enough for 1800 points. Oh yeah - for the future, power fists are bad investment for Grey Hunters. WG pack leaders should have them for the sake of point and damage efficiency. Also, flamer is IMO a better choice for Skyclaws due to their BS 3 and main anti-infantry role. Don't forget, they are good at this role. so don't throw them against tanks or monsters. SgtTelion
Cheers for the response! There is a 3rd GH squad (although only 5 man, accompanying the Rune Priest) Also there is the 10 man Sky Claws with the Wolf Priest plus the Two Long Fang squads - this is where the points are going i think. CainTheHunter
Cheers for the response! There is a 3rd GH squad (although only 5 man, accompanying the Rune Priest) Oh yeah, I missed them. You know that You can't cast any spells from within the Razorback, do You? Edit: sorry, I was meaning that You can't do shooting psych attacks - since RB has no fire points. Passive powers work still. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215598-first-game-tomorrow-please-help/#findComment-2569297 Share on other sites
