Requiemnex
So I used to play space wolves back in 2nd and 3rd edition. I just broke open my case with all my older models in there and was wondering if drop pod armies or a drop pod mech army is competative given the current codex? Niiai
Yes. Drop pod mech is harder then pure drop pod. If you are to belive Grey Mage (who seems like one of the people here who gives sounded advice) SW is the army that performs DP best. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215653-cracked-the-seal/#findComment-2570040 Share on other sites
Stormshrug
The only major difficulty with Drop Pods these days is that they grant a Kill Point when destroyed - against certain armies, this is going to put you at a disadvantage, since you will have almost twice as many Kill Points on the table to target as they will. For objective-based missions, this isn't a problem, obviously. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215653-cracked-the-seal/#findComment-2570044 Share on other sites
Requiemnex
Ha... I am from 3rd edition where immobilized = kill point so as soon as they landed you granted kill points. Do space wolves benefit from the same rule the space marines do? Half your pods come in first turn? Aeddon
...Drop pod mech is harder then pure drop pod. If that's true than apparently I've been doing it the hard way for quite some time. Just don't tell those guys I've been beating down lately ;) Dropmech is actually both quite popular and successful (from what I've seen anyway) When used properly take advantage of both builds without too many of the issues created from specializing in one or the other, i.e.- limits to post-deployment mobility with drop pods lists and limited first turn contact from mech lists. Vorion
I use a couple of drop pods and they tend to work well. They can give up easy kill points but you will be playing objective games most of the time anyways (2 of the 3 types) giving you a major advantage since you can land scores of troops on an objective across the table. Hope you enjoy using them and welcome back to the game Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215653-cracked-the-seal/#findComment-2570264 Share on other sites
Gerwulf
Wouldn't it be great if Grey Mage made a Tactica for drop podding like littlbitz made for bikes? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215653-cracked-the-seal/#findComment-2570518 Share on other sites
