EPK
Army looks great! How did you do in the overall tourni? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215691-resurrected-dark-angels-army-2012-edition/page/2/#findComment-2634781 Share on other sites
GlauG
Cheers. :P Er, they didn't publish an overall placing, because of how Throne of Skulls tourney scoring works now (basically whoever beats the other members of their own army by the highest margin wins), but I'm sure it's fairly low; I got one win, two draws and two losses overall. Of the losses, one was totally bad dice luck and was to the other DA player, so I didn't feel too bad, while the other was one of my favourite games ever. ;) The draws annoyed me more though; in particular, I got a bit overexcited due to hearing that as long as I didn't lose (which was literally impossible at that point in the game as it was 2 objectives and I had a full strength DW Termie squad on my objective over 48 inches away from any of the other player's army on turn 4) I would probably win best DA player, so I forgot that I was going second, and that my opponent would get at least turn 5 to assault Sammael after I moved him to contest my opponent's objective on my turn 4. Sammael was mobbed by two whole Tactical Squads with Krak Grenades, and a single one managed to immobilise him, killing him as it had been a Flat-Out move the turn before. It was still a great game, and my opponent enjoyed it so much that he told me straight away that I was going to get his favourite army/opponent vote. The other draw was fairly hard-fought, but frustratingly ended with more or less our entire armies annihilated with only a single Troops unit each on our respective objectives and his Hive Tyrant in the middle of the board. If I'd had more practice games with the CML list rather than spent the whole week painting frantically like a madman it might have gone better game-wise, but I'd feel a lot less good about the army. ;) All in all it was an excellent time, and I'd be going to the April tournament with my other half and her Witch Hunters if we didn't already have stuff booked for that weekend. Mentat
Sammael was mobbed by two whole Tactical Squads with Krak Grenades, and a single one managed to immobilise him, killing him as it had been a Flat-Out move the turn before. He would have only been immobilized, not destroyed, as your previous turn's mode of movement doesn't matter in that case. GlauG
HUGE IMAGES: My phone can upload to imageshack, but can't resize pictures! So, it's been a while, Battle-Brothers! A large number of personal issues (including a big falling out with GW) mean that I was either unwilling or unable to do anything GW Hobby-related for over a year, I'm preparing to get back in the saddle, with both my long-suffering Dark Angels and their Chaotic counterparts, my two longest-lived 40k armies. While I sold off most of my GW stuff, I couldn't bring myself to part with my Dark Angels force I took to Throne of Skulls last year, and having just pulled them out of the storage they've been sat since shortly after that in order to move house, I thought I'd try and take some better photos. I failed at that, but I thought it was worth posting anyway! http://imageshack.us/a/img690/372/20120925161049.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img84/5112/20120925161041.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img832/4614/20120925161111.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img705/5746/20120925161230.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img404/2599/20120925161222.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img51/968/20120925161241.jpg The main thing that the photos are good for is showing all the parts I missed... They need a lot of final work to finish them off, and a number of knocks and bumps need tidying up too. Between these guys and a Dark Vengeance set, my DA will be in good shape for 6th Edition, I hope! The nice thing is that, as far as I can tell, most of my army list choices for these guys still seem viable, with the possible exception of Sammael's Land Speeder. PS: Apologies for the thread necromancy, but as far as I can tell this was the most appropriate way to post these guys. Apologies again if it wasn't.
