BigBaals
I got tired of using random items as objectives, and our local daemon player has his own objectives. I decided I'd take a stab at making my own! Here they are! WIP of course. http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01858.jpg http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01859.jpg http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01860.jpg http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01861.jpg Also I'm getting prepared for the big Second Wave! I thought some Sanguinary Guard would do nicely. I absolutely loathe the small pictures on GW's website, but I like to mix their techniques with the ones I read about here. So are some larger pictures of how to paint the Sanguinary Guard armor according to Games Workshop Basecoat black! http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01840.jpg Next, basecoat in shining gold. I keep my paint fairly thin. It might take 2-3 coats to get the gold you're looking for. I don't go too crazy because the subsequent steps will help cover the minor bits of black that still show through. See here: http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01843-1.jpg Next - watered down 1:1 scortched earth and chaos black. Directly into the recesses. Let that dry for a bit. Add Leviathan Purple wash directly into the recesses. http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01845.jpg And finally - a thin 1:1 mix of Mithril Silver and Shining gold. I like it a little heavier on the shining gold at this stage. Here is where I veer off the beaten path. I don't highlight edges at this point. I begin to build up this coat onto the largest parts of the armor. Finally, a quick and thin bit of mithril silver to accentuate the armor. Edge highlight if you want. But here's what I ended up with: http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz101/BigBaals/DSC01849.jpg
Zeller
I like the gold. It has a nice multi-tone worn effect. If you happen to have a copy of the recent Space Hulk you could use the terminator, grail, and robot as objectives mounted on bases of course. *thumbs up for the dead bugs*
