Each time I remember to check this thread - I'm at work where Photobucket and similar sights are blocked. So the all I see is a "-" instead of a picture.

Then I forget to check at home.

Finally - I remembered to check this at home and....WOW.

I really love the unhealthy look of your flesh-tone - do you mind sharing the recipe?

While I can't shed any light on Dave's technique I can tell you I sent him a picture of Darth Vader with his helmet removed and said that was the skin tone I wanted for my cyborg soldiers! I really love the way they turned out. So far Dave has nailed what I had envisioned to the letter. I am very very pleased with his work. For those of you who are looking for someone to do your commission work Dave is the man for the job. Excellent communication and the work speaks for itself!!

where'd you get the bionics?

The bionics are from several sources. The ones here are primarily from the Puppetswar kit that you can get here: Puppetswar Bionics, there are also some bionics from the Forge World Command Kit, and lastly some of the tactical squads have pieces from Maxmini Bionics.

In addition Dave has used some guitar string on some of the legs to make some homegrown bionics as well.

While this isn't 100% on target with the work Dave is doing I figured since this is my army I would ask you guys what you thought in regards to army composition here! After all it will have an effect on the work he is doing.

Here is a reiteration of the troop selections for the army.

:P

Squad Doran - Tactical Squad(10x), Plasma Cannon, Plasma Gun, Sergeant - Power Fist, Stormbolter / Rhino - 245

Squad Orlan - Tactical Squad(10x), Plasma Cannon, Plasma Gun, Sergeant - Power Weapon / Rhino - 235

Squad Morian - Tactical Squad(10x), Lascannon, Melta Gun, Sergeant - Power Fist, Combi-melta, Meltabombs / Razorback - Lascannon & Twin-Linked Plasmaguns, Dozerblade - 305 <--(combat squad lascannon)

So, Squad Doran and Squad Orlan are completed leaving only Squad Morian to make its appearance in Phase III of the project. I was looking over Bannus' Iron Hands Codex and it got me thinking about how I have equipped my Sergeants. He has a rule where any Sergeant equipped with a Storm Bolter + a Power Sword or Power Fist can be put into TDA for free. While Doran fits that description just fine, Orlan and Morian are both missing specific components to receive this bonus.

So I was thinking; either I can just leave them as is and have that be their "Power Armored War-gear" or I can change out the Bolt Pistol and Combi-melta each for a Storm Bolter to cut out the transition. So this begs the question is a Storm Bolter worth losing the extra close combat attack on Orlan and the single melta shot on Morian? I would love to have some feedback from you guys before we get phase III lined up, heck even before Phase II gets shipped out to me!

Thanks,

Raven

Edit: Added a link to Bannus' Iron Hands Codex in the text.

Well, if you went with terminator sergeants, you would obviously have to change your tactics as the tactical squad would no longer be able to ride in the rhino. In my opinion, combi bolters are better than storm bolters, they offer more flexibility to the squad. I would keep Morian's equipment as is, and just change Orlan's equipment.

So does Morian's razorback stay back with the las combat squad, or does the melta squad jump in the razorback to go tank hunting?

Well I could also alter his equipment for when I want him to go terminator mode, after all I intend to have a terminator variant for each of my sergeants if for no other reason than badass factor. So yeah, i'll probably leave it as is.

I would likely use more Drop Pods if I was going to throw all my Sarges into TDA to get them up field faster where their lowered mobility wouldn't knee-cap my forces as much.

The Razorback is for Morian himself and his combat squad, the Lascannon stays back with my Conversion Beamer and Thunderfire to pelt anti-vehicle shots down field. Although, if I make use of the C:IH and I field Bannus I might keep the Razorback back with the Lascannons and just get one of my other tactical squads to run on foot with their heavy weapon by Bannus for the relentless rule.. heck I might even try to fit in more Razorbacks at that point. Got a few ideas, but one step at a time.

At my current location in California I haven't had the opportunity to play any games of 40k and thus have no close friends to try the new units out with, I am hoping that the store I have played some fantasy at will accept the more mellow rules for the Iron Hands before I even consider opting to use the new units. So for now, not so much!

Also, Dave just sent me some WIP shots of the Tfire Cannon and its Techmarine (Who will count as Gaumech from time to time) and it is looking awesome! Expect some mini updates in the next few days!

Thanks for watching!
