6 man tacs in RB's?

Hi, im new to the blood angels, previous armies are space wolves and chaos space marines.

For christmas im getting a space marine battleforce + two razorbacks, the BA codex, then possibly two boxes of death company. This gives me 30 guys to work with, plus two razorbacks and a rhino, or three rhinos.

I want a DC squad, so i was gonna have 9 of them with a chaplain in the rhino.

This will leave me with another 20 marines, but i have spares in my bitz box for about another 2 marines, so 22 guys left. I was thinking of using astorath, so possibly turn 10 of these remaining guys into another DC squad but with jump packs. This means i have no guys that can secure objectives, so putting two 6 man tactical squads into RB's with the remaining guys that i have to get objectives.

Is this viable and can it work?

If not, can anybody help me think of a list that is suitable with the things i have?

Thanks, Wulox

You could either do that or turn those 2 6man Tact squads into Assault Squads (minus JP) in the Razors. It'll be cheaper because of their discount and you'll get a special weapon at 5 guys.

I'd even suggest making 1 of those squads 5 guys and blinging (that a word? ;p) up the spare model and turning him into a SangPriest. Although since you're thinking of running so many DC he wouldn't be as useful.

May I ask why you would like to run so many DC? I like them (especially in vehicles and even moreso in vehicles with an assault ramp) but I'm not that keen on them with JPs because of their very steep cost and rage.

Im not sure on why so many death company, like i said, im new to BA, would that one squad be sufficient?
DC are better used as a hard-hitting unit, to deal with enemy's toughest units or HQ. While your 'regular' troops deal with enemy's units DC breakthrough and cut HQ. In your case I'd take 10-man DC while the rest marines would be turned into RAS and Tacts. As you said, you're low on scoring units, and 2x6 tact marines IMHO would not be enough.

As for Rhino/RB question I'd suggest following either MrBlack's advice (with tacts) or as Kinzel said, turn tacts into RAS and take discounted RBs.

As for the tacticals in Razorbacks, as was already said, buy a ten man squad and split'em up, 5 combat'd into the RB with 5 sitting on a objective. It's pretty effective when placed effectively.

Also, I would say that meltaguns are rather pointless in a tactical squad. Better, in my opinion, is sticking a plasmagun and combi-plas in one half of the combat squad, then shooting something down to a managable size, and have an assault squad nearby ready to mop up.

On the subject of your Christmas gifts, from the rumors we've been hearing the BA are getting a battleforce in Jan/Feb, so it stands to reason that if this is true, you should honestly just wait for that, unless of course you're impatient... then I have no advice for you :)

Tis already all bought :P

And thanks guys, what turrets should i have on the razorbacks?

It heavily depends on spare points you have with your current list. If you take several RBs, 2 for example, I would suggest arming one with TLLC to shoot off vehicles while the other with HB to horde control. TLAC is also good, but I personally try to keep my RBs at objectives so the range matters.

Somthing we've experimented with is las cannon and twin-linked plasma gun fairly good in a scrap and is fairly adapt at taking out fairly light armour and at two diffrent guns in one mounting will cause your enemy a supprise or two.

assault cannons, and lots of them!, they can threaten av14, they are deadly to hordes, they shred eldar transports, they shred IG transports, they have an effective range of 36in, in a 2k list you could realisticaly have 44 shots with the possibility of rending! The trick is you need alot of them, you have to get the odds stacked in your favor. Heavy flamers are alos nice too!, 11 templates!?!?! ;)
