littlbitz
Tomorrow is the second Tournament that I will be attending in an army builder series of events. I have been working on my Dark Angels Successor Chapter, specifically the 1st Co. of the Angels of Vindication. I thought I would share some pictures of my army and show how its coming along. Here is the army at 1250 Points 1st Squad Sergeant of the 1st Squad Master of the Deathwing of the Angels of Vindication, Worshipful Brother Vindicis I am still not sure if I like this model or not. I made the conversion several years ago, and really wanted my Commander to look guilt ridden, as if the burden of the secret of the Inner Circle weighed heavily up his soul. The Command Squad The Standard Bearer The Sergeant of the Command Squad The Second Squad 2nd Squad Assault Cannon 2nd Squad Sergeant The Dreadnought Angel's Fury, the Land Raider another view So there it is, so far... I have been enjoying this project, using it as an experiment in conversion work, freehand, new painting techniques ect. That being said, you may notice some slight differences between squads, thats because I have been experimenting with not only different paint techniques, but conversions and over-all look as well. All comments of course are welcome, I will be posting some battle reports from the Tournament, early next week Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215910-1250-tournament-tomorrow-some-pics-of-my-army/ Share on other sites
Chaplain Lucifer
Army looks good. Some nice conversions, Though I'm not quite fan of commander face.. looks more like a haunted old man than guilt ridden... probably some 5'o clock shadow and some effect on eyes from sleepless nights... Isiah
Stunning littlbitz. Some really excellent added in details (too many to mention) but ones to pick out are the sergeants' power weapons – those mauls look like the could some damage! The simple green bannner with red motif looks good too. Best of luck for the tourney :) . littlbitz
Thanks guys. Much of this army has been an experiment of sorts. I feel like I have my technique down pat when it comes to me painting my Space Wolves, and I have a concrete method for my IG. Recently though, I have been playing it "safe" so to speak, of course when I say recently, I mean for the last few years. With this Army, I thought I would broaden my horizons a bit. More work with "green stuff", different paint styles, and some different thoughts to other conversions. My feeling is the same as most of you in regards to the Master of the Death Wing, I went for a certain look, and I don't think I "hit it". I guess that is why it took so long for me to get the model painted. Sometimes with conversions, I like the conversion but once I get paint on it, I don't like it as much. Sometimes, I don't like the conversion and once I get paint on the model, it comes out looking better than expected. This was neither of those, I didn't care for the conversion, and once I got paint on the model, it didn't improve much. He will do for now though, till I can come up with a suitable replacement. Once that happens, maybe I'll just demote him to a Squad Sergeant. The models shown are still works in progress as well. I did some free hand work on the Land Raider, with the name on the top and the sword, and I attempted some free hand with the sword on the banner. I'm not sure if it needs something else or not. I kinda like the simple but effective look for it, but I think it may need some more details. I also haven't attempted any of the shoulder pads on the squad members. I guess I'm afraid of either ruining them, or getting one right and realizing its much more work than I want to put into a shoulder pad right now. LardO'Blood
Very nice models! The land raiders great, I think you added just the right amount of detail. SecretStamos
nice army! I think the commander looks too guilt ridden though...:tu: Yeah, imagine his facial expression when the inner circle first told him the whole story. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215910-1250-tournament-tomorrow-some-pics-of-my-army/#findComment-2574407 Share on other sites

littlbitz
:D ok, so I take it I need to model a new commander? I guess I'll have to get to work on it sooner than later. I just got back from the Tournament, and ended up 6th out of 12 players, right in the middle for battle points. I again took best painted with the army so the day wasn't a complete loss. Besides that, I had a great time, and learned some important lessons about the Deathwing, and how to use them. The field was just as I thought, players were expecting me to take the Deathwing so were ready for me, of course at this point level I imagine it gets tough for the good ole' Deathwing anyways. I will post some Batreps and pics later... Tanhausen
Nice army :) Looks more templar than DW to me (due to dark armour) but... looks great :) A buddy of mine used that head and body to represent a dreadnought with some clear plasticard... amazing results. Very clean painting :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215910-1250-tournament-tomorrow-some-pics-of-my-army/#findComment-2575227 Share on other sites
