Brother Darkover
Well I have several ideas for my company the main issue is with connecting the dots. The first and Foremost is that I want them to be based on the Starks of Winterfell. My Wolf Lord is Eddard who has a frost blade names Ice and so on and so forth. My main opponents are going to be Tau and Iron Warriors. My main issue is that the location of the Tau. they are only in Ultima Segmentum and for the life of me I can't think of a reason for the good ship Winterfell and her Great Company would be wandering around there. Plus I have no reason why the Iron Warriors would be thrown in either. So any and all suggestions are welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/215921-please-help-fleshing-out-my-great-companys-background/ Share on other sites
Growler67
Perhaps while tracking and hunting down (insert whom you like - Orks Horde or Chaos whatever) they were set upon by the Tau. Vehement about eliminating the Xenos scum from the existence of the Imperium your Lord and Company took them on. During this side campaign a host of Iron Warriors were sniffing around in that same sector and so they too deserved to face the rath of your Lord and the Sons of Russ. MaveriK
QUOTE ('Codicium Imperialis - Wolves of Fenris' @ UK WD 246, p85)All Space Wolves are headstrong and in the past this has even led to a Wolf Lord forswearing his oath of fealty and striking out on his own. This last happened in 815.M41, when Wolf Lord Sven Ironhand revoked his oath and led his Great Company into exile on the Eastern Fringes. He was declared outlaw by Logan Grimnar, and a new Great Company raised to replace the one that was lost. Once I heard Tau.. I remembered Wolf Lord Sven Ironhand. Although declared outlaws, they are still LOYAL Space Wolves. Your lost company Space Wolves army could be a splinter force of a smaller warband led by your Wolf Lord from the original great company that left the Fang. As for the Iron Warrior's tie-in, your Space Wolves need to resupply themselves much like the 13th Company, only on a larger scale by fighting against while sacking supplies giving you access to vehicles, of course stripping the taint of chaos and making the machines anew, from Iron Warrior's inventory. MaveriK
If you don't want to go to the Lost Company route, there was another Wolf Lord (forgot his name) didn't revoke his oaths but rather just stayed in the Eastern Fringe. He was out with his Great Company fighting in the Eastern Fringes, and after a victorious campaign decided to stay in the area instead. He felt the journey home was far and long, and he believed that there needed to be a Space Wolves presence in the Eastern Fringe. Your fluff could do something similar, just some suggestions! --edit-- now I remember... 40,992 The VIII Kimmerian regiment, fighting orks on the eastern fringe, are assisted by Jotun Bearclaw's Great Company, who refused to return to Fenris after fighting at Ichar IV due to the length of travel time involved.
