Objective markers?

What I've done for my Black Templars is glue some of the back banners onto 25mm round bases. Paint up the banners to mach your army, and decorate the bases. Along with the banners I've added other little bits, like left over bolters, chainswords, and bits of armor. It's easy, you should have the extra bits, and it gives some objectives that match your army.

I've also used the banner from the Sanguinary Guard kit. I've mounted it at a jaunty angle in a pile of skulls. I can now use it either as an objective marker or just place it next to a mini that is bearing the banner for game purposes.

Here are two of mine so far:

Space Hulk fallen, as Brother Champ suggested, makes for an awesome objective marker -

This Bastion hatch doubles up as a standard objective, and the Escape Hatch stratagem for Planetstrike -

I've gone for the 60mm Hvy Wpns bases, just because it allows more fun to model something because of the extra space, but most people use the 40mm Termie bases, which work just as well. I'm in the process of doing some Red Thirst Markers (which could easily double up as objective markers), and they'll be on the Termie bases. I'll post them soon once they're finished.

I built this thing out of a resin skull keychain and a couple of bits of rock. And Red Gore ;)

Hard to see the scale on these picks, but it's about the hieght of a Marine, maybe a tad taller.

Wow, how did you do those vines of the plants around the arch? So pretty! Then again, I just realized I wouldn't be able to copy it anyway considering my marine's bases... :D

The vines themselves are from the Fantasy basing kit (brass etch). I'll have to dig around my notes for the paint scheme as I haven't done it in a while - very simple though. All base colours, no washes and only one quick drybrush highlight.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

i know its not really BA wise but i saw a tyranid player have possibly the funniest 4 objective markers i've seen in awhile.

1. One marine catching a facehugger style 'nid

2. facehugger type 'nid latched on to his face and him on the ground

3. the marine half decomposed with the 'nid feeding on him

4. and just a 'nid spore with the marines hand sticking out in the terminator style

seeing the decomposed nature (and with the detail he put in) i was laughing for a good solid 10 minutes at them... actually now that i think about it, it was probably a well devised ploy to distract me, i did deploy rather poorly that game.

I can't get over that dead terminator, it looks fantastic. So much so that I ordered one on Ebay. Objective Marker Number 1 has been found! Thank you! Now to figure out 4 more. Hmmmm. Dead Marines perhaps? Go with a theme?

I see a 'set' of them every time I visit at ye olde LGS.

1, PA legs standing upright with ribbons of intestine drooling to the ground wetly.

2, headless torso with heavy scratches and more intestinal ribbons lying on a separate shattered & blackened backpack

3, Helmet with some wet spine, trachea and torn flesh

4, One PA arm hanging off a decayed banner stuck in the ground at an angle

5, Another arm holding a chainsword buried up to the wrist through the mouth and out the back of a genestealer's disembodied head.

I always smile at them.
