Krucious Arkanadae
So awhile ago i sprayed my dreadnought with some citadel primer, welll it came out rough and rather doomed the model to anything less than "ok". I attributed this to a faulty can or maybe past its dues, but recently i bought another can sprayed a death company marine and the same thing happened. I just about put the can through the drywall. What other primers are good for miniatures? besides that army painter stuff. Thank you for any help! Red Fury
I like armory. Its cheap and Iv'e had probably 7+ cans of primer and never had a problem. I like their matt varnish better than army painter's too. http://www.thewarstore.com/armoryspraypaints.html I don't know what happened to your models but usually the biggest problem people have with primer is using way too much. Less is more here. Other than that really grainy texture the black army painter primer was making a while back, it is usually just too much paint. winterdyne
Generally I find the citadel sprays to be pretty good - that's unlucky. Tamiya do some amazing primers, but they're quite expensive, but wonderful for pieces you want a really nice finish on. Other than that, automotive spray paints are often pretty good. Commander Sasha
Army Painter coloured undercoats are great, especially for big batch painting or vehicles. Cheap too. Gurth
Go to a hardware or car parts store — they are likely to have spraying cans, including primer. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216090-other-primers/#findComment-2576045 Share on other sites
Dark Dajin
So awhile ago i sprayed my dreadnought with some citadel primer, welll it came out rough Don't want to be rude, but are you using the undercoat right? aka: -Clean the model using warm (not hot!) soapy water. -Keep the spray can at room temperature before use. -Keep enough distance between can and model. All 3 can cause a rough texture. Because of release agents, premature drying of the paint or too thick a coat respectively.
