Iron Hands Question

If one was painting an Iron Hand space marine ... would one either: -

 

a. Paint the Bolter casing white as per the IA:Iron Hands images.

b. Paint the Bolter casing red as per the picture on pg 114 of the SM Codex.

 

I am curious what conclusion people come too ...

 

If you have a good picture of either colour bolter casing throw it up so we can get a look and compare!

well the white one would really stand out against the black armour whereas the dark red bolter wouldn't stand out all that much if you get me?

 

i'd say go with which ever one you preffer and dont mind painting a billion times!

I would do them pure white (with bluish reflec), it realy helps the feeling of the cold emotionless marines.

I think that yiu should maybe paint up one space marine, but paint two bolters with different colours and then you just "Go Compare!" :)

 

I would also suggest trying a blue casing, could look really good ;)

White ones look great, kikkala did his like that and looked good.

As an IH painter, I do mine pure white.

 

A while ago when Kikkala was doing his IH army, he did them a really cool ice blue colour which looked awesome. similarly, Ive seen the red look good as well.

 

 

Its personal preferance really, I went with white because thats what colour it was in the Index Astartes book, and it gives a lot more contrast as well.

I myself'd go red, since it contrasts with the silver better.
