Hey everybody, I was browsing the web just looking to see what's out there on Space Marines, and I happened upon this forum. After nosing about for a bit, I decided I'd quit lurking and come say hi. This looks like a great place to talk shop and I look forward to meeting everyone.

Edit: I guess I should tell a little about myself. So here goes; I first got into 40K about 2002, when I walked into a game shop and there were all these boxes of cool-looking miniatures standing proudly on their shelves. Long story short, I spent some time buying and playing various other games, usually tcg/ccg's, until I finally couldn't stand it anymore. So I picked up a couple brushes, some paints, and the Necron battle force, since no one there played Necrons. Fast-forward a year and a half or so, and my models are finally put together and primed, and I paint a couple test models in different schemes. I have also picked up a SM command squad, Tigurius, a scouts blister, Azmodai, the old DA tactical squad boxed set, a Necron lord, and a DA Standard Bearer blister. Fast forward to the present; I have, with the help of the local GW store manager, come up with a really cold, soulless color scheme for my 'crons, and have renewed my interest in Space Marines. I am now looking to create my own DIY chapter, and have already come up with a color scheme. I will try to get some pictures up of my Necron warrior painted up, as well as the lord I have who is still a WIP.

Nice story, I got involved thanks to a lack of croquet hoops (you don't really want to hear the whole thing). Just remember, the Bolter and Chainsword is a Power Armor only forum. that means Space Marines and derivatives, Witch Hunters, Daemonhunters, Mechanicus, Chaos Space Marines, and Choas Daemons (admittedly not all of those are power-armored per se, but that's how we have it).

However, if you want to start up your own Space Marine Chapter (like you said), then I recommend you head on over to the Liber Astartes sub-forum and read the Guide to DIYing and the Octaguide 2.0 (by our very own Octavulg). These are the basics you'll need, apart from devotion to the God-Emperor / the forces of Chaos / yourself, to create your very own Spehss Mareens.

Yes, I've deduced as much, lol. As of yet, I only have the apothecary and the champion from the Space Marine command sprues assembled and painted, though I will be going back and redoing them. Lack of experience resulted in less than satisfactory finished models. Since I am still working the rust of my painting techniques, I just assembled and painted a WHF Chaos Warrior. I think he came out pretty decent, but I've realized I need to get my hands on a pin vice and maybe some green stuff.

As for checking out those threads, thanks. I'll do that.

I had wanted to get into Fantasy myself at some point, but since I'd played Dawn of War before ever hearing of the tabletop game, the 40K Universe was already implanted into my mind.

Well, I look forward to seeing more from you!

Hehe, well when I walked into the local GW store a couple months ago (after a good 4-5 years minimum of not painting or collecting) I was almost instantly talked into getting into WHF. I had even decided on Tomb Kings as the army I was going to collect. However, I realized a few things. First, my limited income was barely going to support replacing all my dried out paints and glues, as well as having to get the new 5e rulebook. Second, both my Necron army and the beginnings of my SM army were both unfinished and unpainted, and adding a third army would be the straw that broke the camel's back. Third, I just like the story of 40K much more (though I am a huge real life history buff, especially military history, past and present). So I decided to stick with what I've got and finish them up.

  • 3 weeks later...
So I wanted to double check before I actually did anything. Am I allowed to post only power armor pictures in my gallery (or is that just in public posts, and I can post other pictures in my own gallery)?

Also, another question, though this is more generalized; since I live in the US, how would ordering from the FW website work? Could I just pay using my credit card, or would I have to go through some process to convert my USD into GBP?
