FallenLion
well ladies and gentlemen - I present a funny marine [pessimistic here] I have worked bout 10 hours [max I guessing at time to be truthful] and I really pleased since its my first major single mini project [this is in the BT forum somewhere in a deep dark secluded corner where no one should look so I posted it here as well or convenience and because it belongs here] he still needs his other arm and a good dusting. Touch ups and maybe some highlights but C&C welcome http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/MarineCapt003.jpg http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/MarineCapt002.jpg http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/MarineCapt001.jpg http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/MarineCapt004.jpg UPDATE its been forever, because I had forgot about him but I have done a lot of work http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/Marine%20Captain/30112010170.jpg http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/Marine%20Captain/30112010180.jpg http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/Marine%20Captain/30112010181.jpg and the best of them all http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy166/McCabage/Marine%20Captain/30112010183.jpg C&C welcome note that: mould line I don't know how to get rid of and not taking knife to mini for no reason Glue warp will be sorted out [on helmet I might leave works well imo] Needs dusting >.< No- Left Arm because of a debate between a BT chapter upgrade spree's bolter pistol with chains vs a painted [glue warped] plasma pistol my first ever big effort on a single mini  [been painting about 6 months seriously] have fun ripping him to shreds :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216131-aobr-bt-capt/ Share on other sites
THE GHOMA
Good work so far. Try lowering the helmet a little, it looks a bit awkward IMHO. Try using a wash, not only does it cover up mistakes, it works wonders on cloth and various other textured areas. FallenLion
thanks ver much and no need for IMHO just say hat you think - I don't mind :P a wash of what though, I have found that washes work great but what wash do you think I should apply? the cape has extensively watered down skull white + graveyard earth Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216131-aobr-bt-capt/#findComment-2576671 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
The back of the robe actually looks very good. Better than most of mine. <_< On the red side though, near his left arm is a bit of silver or something. Perhaps some touch ups are in order. I don't know what you mean by "not taking a knife to a mini for no reason" since removing mold lines and flash are definitely one of THE most important reasons. Ever. But since hes already painted, don't do it now, for the next models, do it before painting. Awesome, keep it up, and keep posting pictures. Awesome, keep it up, and keep posting pictures. its the white that needs red-afying but need to finish before touch ups :) thanks for the cloak comment - that must have about 4 layers of watered down skull white before I realised that a bit of komando karki and then a heavily watered down graveyard earth would look awesome - you can see the layers/stages clearer on the tabbard I still need to power his sword - atm its just blue xD add in an arm, touch ups etc not taking a knife to my mini - its because I don't know how to clean mould lines and I tried once and messed up that badly that I had to take the head off and find a new one [hastle I didn't want] so if you can show/tell me how to remove em that would be great - what you mean by flash?? thanks all for comments Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216131-aobr-bt-capt/#findComment-2577407 Share on other sites
blackbabyjesus
Removing mould lines is really very straightforward, you simply drag the blade of a modelling knife (many people swear by xacto knives) along the mould line until it's flush with the surrounding plastic.
