JMac
Just ordered my set of TWC from Mythicast. Now it's a waiting game... <_< However, while I wait I would like to prepare by learning from my elders: Anyone have any advice before assembly/paint? Anything you wish you would or would not have done looking back? Advice on the best way to paint or what colors to use? JMac
Not exactly what I was looking for MaveriK, but I do appreciate the time you took to help. ;) I was looking more for those who have handled the Mythicast TWC themselves and had any regrets after doing so. Anyone like this out there? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216145-learn-from-your-mistakes/#findComment-2576834 Share on other sites
MaveriK
apologies! i just figured since a few of those links had Mythicast TWC minis they would be of some insight for you, even through the various comments. Especially the two links with Max_Dammit who started his trends from assembling, cleaning and painting, along with his personal experience with the resins. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216145-learn-from-your-mistakes/#findComment-2576842 Share on other sites
Grimtooth
Be sure and wash them in some nice warm soapy water. Clean up any mold lines you find, the wash them again in warm soapy water. Other then those things, pretty simple model to work with. Oh yea, if you are going to use the stock bases, just glue one foot for painting since you can work your razor under that paw carefully if hou need to pull it off to paint stomachs and under chests. Max_Dammit
Only down side i found was that they put some paint on it some times. Its a bit thick for my taste so i had to get that paint off with some work and a good paint removal liquid. I only once broke a tail when one fell of the table but the break was so clean that just gluing it back on didnt even need a repaint. I did minimal GS work on them and there is a minimal of air bubbles that where mostly gone after painting. Other than that i LOVE these models. Grey Mage
I found the cyberwolves to be rather fragile, particularly the legs. Otherwise no complaints at all. Mr. Danvers
I bought a set of 5 a while back and I love them. They do need a bit of GS filling here and there, but it's nothing major, just covering up some little gaps. The only gripe I've got with mine, is that the legs that are sculpted on don't have smooth plates (probably from the moulding) and it's not really possible to file them smooth. I think I'm just going to be careful when I paint them, so I can hide this. Everyone that I've shown them to have loved them, even my local GW store owner (Although we have a nice understanding that they're not allowed to grace the tables in there :)). Personally, I think that they're one of the best purchases I've made for the hobby; they're cheap, ideal scale and do the job perfectly. I really need to get on a paint them actually... SJumppanen
I got one advice: Do not lose that marine arm that comes with them! It would seem that most people do not use it but you can make one marine to grip the wolf from its hide.
