Focke
I plan on stripping acrylic paint off a number of minis. I was wondering if the fact that they were painted with acrylics makes any difference, or if something like simple green work? Focke
Cool thanks. Any hints or tips for the stripping? I'm rather new to stripping paint. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216156-stripping-acrylics/#findComment-2576931 Share on other sites
Tanhausen
Paint stripping comes up a couple times a week... I recall there was a rather big thread on the PCA subforum, but don't remember where. Be careful with your skin and brush away from the body (and eyes). Roesor
We don't have simple green over here in the uk I think...so I've been firmly told to go with nail polish remover. Tanhausen
Here it is: 331 replies... I use Isopropylic Alcohol: reusable and in 2 hours usually removes all of the paint. If very nasty paint work or you want to remove primer, you can keep it in DAYS and no harm to plastic (I've kept it in 1 month because I forgot xD). Just remember to put a lid, to prevent evaporation. Hope it helps! Edit: Nail polisher... be POSITIVE its acetone free... or say good bye to your plastic models. Octavulg
If Simple Green doesn't work (as it occasionally won't) oven cleaner almost always will. Oven cleaner may not always work well, but it'll always work to some extent. Dorns Padawan
I have just purchased some stuff from Homebase called 3-IN-ONE Heavy duty cleaner degreaser. It is a foam type spray that is meant to remove pain & grease etc from engines so thought it would work on my old models I am trying to strip. Didn't do much as after 5 mins the stuff evaporates and the paint comes off if I scrated it off with my nails. Gonna buy a soft wire brush to see if that helps. If I get any good results I will add to the thread. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216156-stripping-acrylics/#findComment-2577558 Share on other sites
