Tending to the Spirits of the Wolves

So I am stuck....REALLY freaking stuck!

I have been kicking around the idea for my wolf priest to make him into the complete bad azz that he DESERVES to be but....I have hit a roadblock. Now our codex states that he WILL have one ranged weapon, and his Croizus(BOO!!) and then from there we have all the options of armor and sagas, and various nick-nacks.

I have reached the point where I have a decent look for him, but I cannot find the right look for the Croizus, the darn symbol of his office.

The obvious choice is to hit up Ulric for his....but that is a little too easy for me. Don't ask me to sculpt the wings I am not that good yet. Oh and by the way... He has to be ready to go by the 11th for my next escalation league meeting.

Nothing like a little pressure to make things interesting.

Nothing like 4 INCHES OF SNOW TO HELP WITH YOUR PRIMING!! B)

Does he have tobe just "ready to go" on the 11th, or can you go with something in the interum until a more masterful crafting can be accomplished? I have a :cuss-ton of stuff and can probably craft you one or provide the bits if you wish to craft it yourself. However, doing such and getting it to you in time for you to paint and seal it before the 11th is cutting things mighty close. When is the next meeting after the 11th? Can your priest be brought in then, or again at that time.....redone?

Sorry I don't have a camera anymore...

It's the MKVII running legs from the assault sprue, a torso from a Khorne berserker that the stomach area has been trimmed back to fit the Morakai belt with the knife on, there are 2 pouches from the Mordehiem sprue the long rectangular and the large round one, and the bolt pistol holster on the left with the handle of the BP cut away. I used the Diamond bolt pistol for the left hand and now I am stuck. I am thinking about getting the Chaos Marauder horsemen for some more conversion ideas...(yes scouts are included in that) for some of the different heads, but where I am really stuck is the right hand/arm.... I was thinking about a Wolf Hammer....but that overpowers the model and it's not quite WYSWYG. I keep looking around but nothing is really tickling my fancy.

Growler I was hoping not to have to proxy, but it may look like I am going to have to break out the apprentice Wolf Priest.... that was going to be a standard chaplain with some bits slapped on him, not what I really had in mind. There is an old chaplain that I have that was a huge miscast that I might be applying GS to get him in the spot. At this point I don't really care I just want something in there that I can use.

Brother Loki-LaughingDeath, you have a PM from me.

You may also consider starting from those bits offered in the Wolf Terminator box. The ones that go just behind the head on top of the back. There are some great starting points from which to base a Crozius on. Finding a haft and then an appropriat set of wings and you will have what you wish.

Hi Loki,

Not sure if its what you are looking for but here is one of my conversions, i've used a jost handle from the knights of bretonia and 2 chopped up back pack pole, 1 space wolf, 1 vanilla marine.

i hope it gives you some inspiration at least brother!

while bears DO poop in the woods and the pope is catholic, I think that I am going to have to pass on that idea fred, just not my style.

Wolfeslad that is really good work, and it's almost what I have in mind.

Growler, many thanks! I am going to have to snag the camera at the game store to show you the handy work. Unfortunately my car is stuck in 8 inches of snow from the recent storm and isn't going anywhere soon.....

Any advice on priming in the snow?

Keep an eye on your mailbox. Monday at the latest dependin on the USPS. Hope the ideas and suggestions, along with the bits help out

ETA: As for priming in the cold, keep the paint in the house where it is warmer. You can use an old cardboard box to use as a pintbox and spray your models inside the box while it's on its side. The box will catch the over sray so it doesn't end up everywhere. Couple of sprays at a time and it may take a while. Allow drying time in between shots. After it sets a while in the box, bring it in the house where it is warmer to finish drying. Indirect airflow from a nearby fan will help out quite a bit.

Worked for me when I lived in Colorado during the winters. A few minutes in the garage, maybe 10-15 before bringing it inside minimized the fumes while drying.

I recently bought the jump pack chaplain and converted him by adding a few bits and using a bolt pistol from the SW box. I wish I had seen this post first because I would have just converted one, using the icon from a drop pod and the skulls is a great idea and I may have to use that for my wolf priest
I've been "ridiculed" elsewhere for suggestion of using the Wolfhead helm as an actual helmet, but why not make it the head of a mace and thereby a Crozius?

Ridiculed??? :P Why are people adverse to a wolf-head helmeted RP? A Wolf-head helmet is what I'm going to have for my RP 'cause its a TOTALLY AWESOME idea (and looks B)).

There are some pictures in the codex of some Thunder Hammers with a wolf-head thing on the back of them. Would work as a Crozius head? If nothing else is 'working' for what you want the Crozius to be you could try just using an ornate looking weapon (axe, sword, mace, etc.) - or you could just buy an Ulrik and use his Crozius, not that it looks much better than what the regular RPs use ;) .

Wolf Priest, not to be confused with the Rune Priests.

Whoops, I meant Wolf Priest, silly me (but I was typing late at night and was tired so hopefully my [uncharacteristic] SW noob error can be forgiven).

Also I forgot to mention how fantastic Wolfeslad's model looks, and Schertenleib's too! Inspirational work ;)

Growler, I received your care package yesterday and was pleasantly surprised..... I didn't need all of it, but all the stuff you sent gave me ideas! I have gotten a start on him, but I completely spazzed on getting pics of him! Besides I really want to get him closer to finished before I show him off! Oh by the way the 11th is when he has to be completed!! :wallbash:

By the way the list of stuff that needs painting is the following

Heimdall Grim Eyed Wolf Priest

2 Blood Claws

4 Grey Hunters

4 Long Fangs

and 2 Rhinos

I may be slightly screwed!!

Pics when done will be fine with the Brethern here I'm sure. I threw in extras in case any mishaps resulted in a redo or other such. If not, it's always nice to have extra bits for...........whatever, down the road. Those Dwarven Runestones and other things should prove useful for the right kind of project.

After much cutting, cussing, bleeding, more cussing, gluing, breaks, re-gluing while muttering curses and cussing, the crozius is completed and in the process of drying.

What I ended up doing looks very similar to yours Schertenleib, but I think that it's different enough that it will be noticed.

Schertenleib, that first guy is by far my favorite Wolf Priest I've seen! Where is that skull-looking helmet from?

That helmet is an idea I borrowed from one of our Brothers here in the Fang. It's a Chaos Marine helmet. You use a craft knife and cut out the center teeth and it leaves you with a nice fang helm.
