Brother Memnonic
At first, that's my first post so hi to everyone! ^^ Please, excuse any language mistakes, for I'm not english native speaker ^^" And about the build - I decided to do this project a few months before, but only after I found 405th and the Pepakura armor making method I went on to doing this. I started it about a month before, so (due to lack of spare time and lack of material) progress in not really overwhelming. My personal destination is Power Armor MKVII "Aquila". For any references, I am exactly 6 feet tall. Here's what I got for now. At first little picture to show You difference between old chest file my friend Arendil based on and the new model made exactly from the SM mini. http://i55.tinypic.com/swwoqe.png Photos of me wearing the first glued piece - chest: Front: http://i55.tinypic.com/20l1gut.jpg Side: http://i56.tinypic.com/2vljo05.jpg Back: http://i55.tinypic.com/104gr6g.jpg And a few pieces after first layer of resin - helmet, chest and one of the shoulders. http://i52.tinypic.com/2vc947q.jpg If You would like this project to evolve Arendil is in desperate need of Your help. We are willing to go under Black Templars colors - me as Brother Initiate and Arendil as my Neophyte. To do this we are in lack of one thing - Black Templars Neophyte good reference pictures. None of us or our friends is playing SM (yup, we've got eldars and tyranids...) so to all You Templar Brothers - please, post photos of Your Neophytes (zooms on different sides of their backpack would be very nice, because it's the most problematic piece to model) or send these photos to my email - evil976@o2.pl. Thanks in advance! See ya! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216230-brother-memnonic-mk7-aquila-real-life-power-armour-build/ Share on other sites
Grazcruzk
I don't have any BT pictures to help you out, I just wanted to say this is looking great so far and I wish you luck getting it finished! Zeller
Getting the torso on and off looks difficult. The project looks fantastic so far though. Did you coat the helmet in wood glue or resin? Brother Memnonic
@Grazcruzk: Thanks man ^^ @sword brethren: Thanks for the pic, will be in use while designing all the Neophytes pouches and other details. @Zeller: yup, it's a bit difficult, so torso wil be divided in two parts - the back and the front. The back will be strapped just like these big backpacks with frame (since the marine backpack is going to hold water, power supplies, a few electronical devices, fans and so on it's going to weight a bit ^^") and front with collar attached to this. And thats polyester resin. ^^ @Chapter Master Ignis Domus: Thanks, there will be more. @l33t h0b0: It's thick paper, exactly 240g/sqm @The Normish: I've seen this build. Pretty impressive, huh? :) Come on, I don't believe that none of you guys own Neophytes or at least Scouts. A few fotos of their backpacks from different angles is all I ask. Zeller
So you're telling me inside you armor you will have a water delivery system, a communication system, an environmental control system, and a cookie dispenser? You're just looking for pictures of the actual miniatures? Let me charge my camera battery. Brother Memnonic
@Zeller: Maybe not cookie dispenser, but mostly yes. ;p Water delivery, communication with other marines (we've got 3 other armors under construction), voice changer and air cooling system. Most of these won't actually go into the Scouts armor, but in Marine these will be made. Brother Caliban
http://keithconcept.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/marine-87.jpg?w=640 Make sure it's so big! My idea of proportions above. Brother Memnonic
@UP: Thank you all, guys. I will make sure to post some new pics soon. ^^ @Brother Caliban: Unfortunately after doing it in exactly marine proportions it wouldn't be wearable ;p I will ensure to keep most of the bulkiness, but these armors will be for sure a bit narrower than this one. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216230-brother-memnonic-mk7-aquila-real-life-power-armour-build/#findComment-2579377 Share on other sites
Cpt. Salvatore
http://keithconcept.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/marine-87.jpg?w=640 Make sure it's so big! My idea of proportions above. That is waaaaay to fat and big. The head is so sadly small. I think the proportions that Bro Memnonic chose are very right. Good work on it Mister Memnonic and keep us updated... Brother Memnonic
Thanks, Captain. I really hope that these proportions will turn out as much fluff-acurate as possible. And about updates there are a few more peps done today - shin and knee. Forearm and elbow will follow tomorrow, when I get my camera battery alive. Here are some photos (Arendil is posing this time): http://i52.tinypic.com/6gyde8.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/vzda3d.jpg http://i55.tinypic.com/357n8d5.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/r1myo2.jpg Thats MK7 leg, hope it looks good enough. Any creative and constructive comments are welcome! See ya, Memnonic P.S. Still nobody got any Scouts backpack photos? Dennis
Very cool! And here's a link to my Neophyte, this is the best pic I currently have for the back of a scout (dont mind the armored arms and pads) (I bet that if you look for more images of scouts on CMON you'll find a good one with the backview) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216230-brother-memnonic-mk7-aquila-real-life-power-armour-build/#findComment-2581432 Share on other sites
Cpt. Salvatore
Good job on the legs. Just one thing...The shin plate needs to get thicker around the real shin. The armour looks too thin. Brother Memnonic
Whoa, lot of time passed since my last post. Unfortunately this is my senior year in high school so preparing to exams has pretty sucked me in. Happy news are that only one more month and I will be back working on this project with my full powers. For now, what has been done: - redesigned of thighs so they do not interrupt walking anymore (will share after testing), - created plans for actual working chainsword (will share after testing and building), - created plans for working bolt pistol powered by CO2 and fireing nerf-like bullets (will share after testing and building), - finished gathering parts and soldering all elements of voice changer and communication system (no photos because there is nearly nothing to show). - pepped arms armor (been bored one evening, photos below). Armor will be finished in it's most basic form by the end of July. If work will go easier than I think this should be eariler. For those who may be interested I will be probably making molds of it so creating reproductions may be possible. So... That's all for now. Next update will be probably something around 20th of May, after the finish of my all exams. May the Emperor bless Your immortal souls, Brother Memnonic P.S. Photos: (shot only one, the second is the same) http://i55.tinypic.com/2ldivet.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/rvbyuf.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/1zclu1i.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216230-brother-memnonic-mk7-aquila-real-life-power-armour-build/#findComment-2702398 Share on other sites
Brother Memnonic
Sorry for doubleposting, but an update's coming. After having pepped forearm and elbow armor I decided it doesn't really satisfy me. Too low-detail, too much work smoothing it, etc. So I messaged Arendil and after 2 maybe 3 hours I received this: full HD improved version elbow and forearm. http://i54.tinypic.com/8xvgvt.png Going to pep it soon. Emperor bless you, Brother Memnonic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216230-brother-memnonic-mk7-aquila-real-life-power-armour-build/#findComment-2719487 Share on other sites
Candleshoes
@Brother Caliban I think those proportions are accurate for the 750+ pounds of natural space marine that fluff indicates, and works well with the anatomy breakdown. A suit for someone to wear however, would have to be slimmer and proportioned to match.
