Greetings Brothers,

So ive put on the final layer of armour before the highlight, (the highlight is going to pure skull white). Then it's on with the rest of the models bits such as boltgun, the red crosses and purity seals.

Ive also included a picture of the Chapter Master Seth I did a while back (as this will my new plog)

Some words to break up the pictures

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/Seth2.jpg

I couldnt decide which angle looked better so I included both :confused:

Ah Rob, long time no see!

Hows things? You down this way anytime soon?

Yeahi figured that black in death company in a Flesh Tearer army wouldnt stand out much as the army colours are red and black, so hey presto white death company! Eventually they'll have blood splatters on them as well (once i figure out the best way and a sprinkle of luck of course)

Thanks for the comments dude!

Heya buddy, I'm all good. Been out of the loop for a while with a new job and that but finally got myself down the local GW for a few games. Finally beat an Eldar army. Made Eldrad leg it off the field after decimating his seers. haha. Should hopefully be down in the new year for a week or 2 so we'll have to get some serious gaming in. How's tricks with you guys? Glad to see you're still flying the flag for the sons of sanguinius!

@Brother Duncs

Great to here that your getting back into it mate, and nice one on making eldar run from the might of your blood angels (btw i played matt this week against his eldar managed a win 7-3 kill points!). You should check out our FB group we've uploaded pictures from our apocalypse game from sunday! Look forward to seeing you mate, yeah definately get loads of games in (there should also be an apocalypse game around then too!). Finally, i'll always fly the flag of Sanguinius, why? because we're the best! :)

@Black organge

I consider your painting and also your blog to be top quality so this is appreciated! I've painted some white power armour before but nothing with as much detail (ill put my other death company squad up here later to compare, as i will probably be repainting them).

@Vahouth

I've looked at your posts about your 2nd company of Blood Angels a few times and I must say I really dig your Baals, Tactical marines and especially your dreads! So thankyou. White is one of those trickey colours to get right, but the way i've painted these is :

Sprayed - Chaos black

Basecoat - Adeptus battlegrey

First layer - codex grey

second layer - fenris grey

Final layer - fenris 50/50 foundation white (this is only available in the hobby starter set, but I think skull white would work just as well)

Highlight - Skull white

If needed i've also in places put a little bit of badab black in the recesses where ive gone over the darker colour

(hope you were looking for that anyway)

@shatter

Thanks for your comment its rather funny, even if I dont understand all of it... :D

Finally here is a photograph of the final highlight for the armour (so thats done) next is red bitz, metal areas and purity seals

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/FInal.jpg

This photo isnt the best as it doesnt show the highlights very well at all (in real life they look a LOT better, I tried a few different shots, but ce la vie!).

I was suggesting your chapter uses it's DC to paint the chapter's armours red with the blood of heretics, hence the white (unpainted) armour pre-battle.

Nice to see a fellow brother going for White dc. I only have one finished So far. But I have been busy working and organising tournaments etc. Anyway this is mine.

Hello once again Brothers!

So the death company are really coming along, almost finished now! So ive uploaded another picture, the only things left are the metal areas, the freehand banner and finishing the parchment off.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/upload.jpg

So what you guys think?

(btw they are not nearly as orange as that in real life, however I have made a mistake on 3 out of 4 of them, on the red areas I started painting blazing orange instead of blood red, bar from one of them that has blood red BEFORE blazing orange, do you think it is noticable?)

@Shatter

Yeah I thought thats what you meant, made me giggle at least (this in itself is not an easy feat!)

@Kayesh

Thanks Brother for the comment!

@Matchbox

Yay another Brother who is going for white death company!

Im really digging your marine mate, love the pose -it is like he has retained some semblance of command or perhaps he's pointing at a target. Also I like how you achieved your white, what is your technique?

Im going away for a few days, so the Death Company probably wont get updated till wed.

Till then Brothers,

Luko

My Death Company are grey, which is almost white! :P

I find painting White hard but I didn't want a black Death Company for my DIY Chapter, so i went for Grey out of laziness. :(

I would like to congratulate you for getting a great white on your models as well as a very nice looking red. I can tell your painting talent far exceeds mine. :(

Are you planning on adding more models to your squad?

Hey Luko,

I like your DC very much. The white looks solid and has depth, which can be difficult to achieve, but you have done a very good job. :P

The red parts look like they're orange, but that might be the flash.

Again, very nice stuff. I´ve never heard of that fluff before, and I found it surprising how good it looks when done properly.

Snorri

Thanks. I used a fairly simple technique. But it works nicely.

1. Black spray undercoat.

2. A pale basecoat. Usually astronomican grey.

3. White main coat.

4. Black wash over recesses.

5. Neaten up the White. Usually takes a couple coats to cover the black properly. But it leaves a nice even covering.

The orange is a tad too light I reckon. Try adding a drop of red into it to tone it down slightly. Other than that I'm loving them.

  • 1 month later...

Hey Brothers,

I have not posted in a while, and as it is a new year, its time to resurrect my plog.

So here are the things ive been working on recently. All these are being done for a 2000pt tourney i got in Feb (ill post the list later see wat you guys think). So first up is my interpretation of The Sanguinor. I painted him this dark colour for 2 reasons, Flesh Tearers dont do bling. Secondly my take on The Sanguinor is when he appears to the different sons of Sanguinius, he takes on some aspects of the character of their chapter. So when he appears to Blood Angels: hes all a Son Of Sanguinius should be. However when he appears to Flesh Tearers, he becomes of Sanguinius' rage and fury, hence the dark colours - The Black Rage!

Anyho, hope you guys like, (btw hes not quite finished still gotta paint Sanguinius on shoulder pad and the scrolls as well as basing)

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/Sanguinor.jpg

Furthermore guys, to make my Land Raiders different and cool, (and to show off their interiors that ive painted) I have installed 3 LED lights. These pictures were taken in the dark.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/LR1.jpg

And another one.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/LR2.jpg

So what do you think brothers...

Peace out, Luko

As promised brothers here is my 2000pt list ()

Gabriel seth/ Librarian Episoltarlry (with unleash rage and either strength of sanguinius

or shield of sanguinius)

The Sanguinor

Honour Guard

Chapter Banner

power weapon

Land Raider Redeemer

Assault squadx10

2x melta

pf

Land Raider Crusader

Assualt Squadx10

flamers

lightning claws

melta bomb

Furiosio

Blood fists

Magna Grapple

Baal Predator

Heavy Bolters

Storm Raven

(has Twin assault cannon and twin meltas)

2000pts on the dot

ive play tested it 4 times now and have won every game. Those games were against, chaos, tooled up eldar army, chaos again and space marines.

So what do you guys think? (btw i realise that taking the librarian would free up 10 pts and be more tactically sound, but a flesh tearers army without seth is :huh: . Also he has become somewhat of a good luck charm for me.

Hey there,

just a quick update.

@Plague Angel

Thanks for the comment, they did take well over 2 days to complete so im glad it appears to have paid off. Also I think you may be right about the white death company, I know of a couple of others who do it on here. I think the white death company is to be blamed on codex:BA for the photo of them at the back of the picture pages.

@SnorriSnorrison

Thank you! It was quite simple to do as well, simply a case of buying some cheaper LED torch-type thing from a poundstore, ripping it all to pieces then use the wiring and some batteries to make a small pack to go on the roof of the Land Raider. Yes I have imagined that myself several times, though it is usually Seth and his honour guard who ride in it. For instance last night they charged out of the land raider in front of a squad dark reapers and Maugan Ra in trees. I roll short for terrain test, so they take a round of shooting (only 2 died!), then Seth cut Maugan Ra's head off! Also it maybe my imagination, but since I have included the LEDs it appears to have become much more angry, going on killing rampages (for instance over the course of several games, it has killed on its own, berserkers, a valkyrie, a chaos lord, numerous eldar and quite a few space marines) and also it has yet to die (yesterday 2 wave serpeants rammed it, got strength 10 and failed to damage it!). It is quite intimidating to see the blue-ish glow of lights as the Land Raider Redeemer advances across the battlefield...

Im sending in some army shots to GW (to hopefully go up on their blog), so I thought I may as well include them on here. So here is some photos!

First up is an army shot

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/Armyuploadfinal.jpg

Second is two close ups of either half of the army (does that make sense :wink: )

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/Armyshot2.jpg

And the other half

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/Armyshot1.jpg

Then we have some terminators

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/ArmyTermis.jpg

I realised that i have only showed the inside of my Land Raiders. So here is what the outside looks like.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/ArmyLRs.jpg

Then I have my commanders; Gabriel Seth, Captain Gorn (using Pedro Kantor's rules), Chaplin Carnavon (using rules for Astorath the Grim, which also represents the Flesh Tearers rage really well.)

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/ArmyHQ.jpg

Finally, there is my assault squad.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u125/death_becomes87/ArmyAssualt.jpg

The rest I wil save for another time.

P.S does anyone know how to change the topic description when it appears amongst other threads?

Until then,

peace out brothers,

Luko

@Biglou666

Thanks for the comment dude. Red is probably a little bit more complicated than it needs to be, but this is how i do it.

Basecoat is 1.1.1 mix mechrite red, chaos black and scorched brown (to give a very dark red/brown colour),

then the first layer is 1.1 mix of blood red and scab red.

Then the first highlight is blood red on the edges of the armour.

The second highlight is then lazing orange, if the model is a character or special unit i give them a further extreme highlight of vomit brown.

After the highlights I blend all the armour together (apart from the black bits) with a baal red wash.

Later on ill upload some pictures to illustrate this guide.

Till next time brothers,

Luko
