Gv0zD
The priests look so nice, I wish the pics were of better quality. You have a tough schedule, though. I wish you luck and may the force be with you! ;)
Plague Angel
yea, I had been thinking about differently colored helmets, though I'm gonna keep it codex and only do it on the veterans. Whether to use red, white, or even black helmets though, I'm not yet decided on. Based on other Lamenters armies I've seen, I have to say I've found red veteran helmets on yellow armor to be pretty striking.
vonny
@vahouth haven't done them yet, and probably will take a while. First up after this priest is 1 tac and a devastator squad (so I'm halfway with squads apart from the HG), and 2 pods (so I'm almost halfway with pods and nicely at a 1500 pts army. @GvOzD: I'll make sure to borrow my dad's camera when he's coming around these parts again to make pictures, and I'm sure as hell planning to get at least the final pictures up in that quality. That way it'll fit in with the rest of the pictures. @PA: thanks for the advice. I hope that holds true for mine as well, seeing as how I often feel I have more red already than most lamenter armies I've seen
Plague Angel
I had Avetine's Terminators in mind specifically. Which may be different since they're Terminators and not power armor. But it should — I hope — still be true, as it's basically just an inversion of Blood Angels with yellow helmets. If you try it and it doesn't look good, I'm sorry! With white though, while you've proven it can look great, you run the risk of veterans looking too much like priests at a casual glance.
vonny
almost done! just some paint chipping (not that I think you'd see it on these quality pictures), glue, some source lighting from the power sword, and the base, and he should be good to go. I'm pondering painting matt varnish over him to protect the white, as it's kinda easy to get un-white...
Gv0zD
Wow! :( It's nice! Great paintjob. :tu: The lightning on the powersword is cool. Not to mention the superb detail on apothecary tool and vials on his belts. Is it a heart on his chest?
vonny
yes it is, but that was already modelled in (to my happy surprise!), so I just painted it up like the chapter icon.
vonny
double post, but with news! Nearly done: It's just the base left that needs some attention, and any other stuff that comes up that I believe would need a touch-up. Any constructive or non-constructive critisism to add? djhg
The Yellow is beautiful. Knowing full well how hard it is to make it look good I'd say you've done extremely well on this one. The subtle lighting effect from the sword reflecting off on the arm and shoulder is simply brilliant and perfectly executed too. The details on the Narthecium are nice too, I like the EKG readout. The only thing that really lets you down is the side of the jump pack seen in the 2nd picture. The mould line is rather obvious. Could probably hide it as battle damage/wear & tear if the whole jump pack was made to look like it's had a few knocks but I can also understand it it's far more hassle than it's worth. White is a total pig of a colour at the best times... Overall it's another gorgeous piece to add to your already spectacular army Vonny :D
Gv0zD
Any constructive or non-constructive critisism to add? You rock! :D Remove that line and the priest would terrific!
punkfish
Lovely looking Lamenters! The army seems to be coming together nicely and they have a really unified look. The Sanguinary Priest looks really nice so far too - good power weapon effect and I like the OSL - not too overpowering. My only criticism would be that the white armour seems to swing between being quite flat to the shade being a tad overpowering. How do you do your white? Plague Angel
Would a checkered jump pack be too much? Maybe it wouldn't be appropriate for a priest, anyways.
Kassill
Very very cool stuff Vonny! Your yellow and white are superb as are your checkering. Really diggin that priest! :D
d503
nice army. What do you have in your list?
vonny
I do my white with fortress grey, and then many layers of white. Should've used an in-between color, but I was lazy. I actually did use an in-between color for may of the shading at first, but it was too little shade to be noticed, so I stopped doing that. I actually did consider doing checkers on one of the intakes of the jump pack (below the heart), but decided against it in the end. The model is rather busy as it is, and I didn't want to go overboard. As for what's in my army right now, it's rather inefficient as I just take what I've finished painting in my 2nd company lamenters, which I build more for fluff and only a little bit for effectiveness. Having said that, for 1000 pts it's: Reclusiarch, jump pack, melta bomb Sanguinary priest, jump pack, power sword 10 man tac squad flamer/missile with sarge chainsword/pistol 10 man tac squad meltagun/missile with sarge power weapon/pistol 10-man ras meltagunx2, thunder hammer. dreadnought with multi-melta, CC-weapon with heavy flamer Drop pod. eventually the reclusiarch will just be an elite chaplain, but using it as reclusiarch now because I need an HQ :cuss I'm really pondering shaving off the mold line on the jump pack now, althought that'd probably cause me to fail the LPC... Emperors Immortals
I love youre work - im not normally a fan of Lamentors paint schemes (which is a shame as i love the fluff) but yours is striking and cohesive, very nice job :)
vonny
and, with less than a week to spare on my own schedule, I have finished my Librarium Painting Challenge! Woohoo! (on a side note, do I need to post that in the lpc's topic or pm someone about that?) I even managed to work away that mold line. Took less time than I expected. Later today I intend to post a picture of my completed 1000 pts army in this post, as that was the goal of finishing this priest: having my 1000 pts army fully painted. Edit: and here it is! vonny
it's ma'am :o and on my desk currently is a tac squad with power fist, flamer and missile launcher, as well as several termagants. And a few space marine scouts...
Demoulius
it's ma'am :) and on my desk currently is a tac squad with power fist, flamer and missile launcher, as well as several termagants. And a few space marine scouts... hmm dident see that coming (not that it matters ;) ) after seeing your army shot im wondering: did you plan this army like that or do you have greater plans for the future? 2 tacticals and an assault squad is a great start towards a battle company :D

vonny
yes, the idea was indeed for a battle company. Have the gear all written out already, except for the sarges of the dev squads and the honor guard). So battle company it is going to be! I didn't plan this army out, at some point it was just looking at what I had and being really close to 1000 pts, so I rolled with that. No worries about the mistake Ebsolom. There's not that many of my kind around in GW land, especially not with marines I think. I got the scouts mainly because I think they look very awesome, but I'm not quite sure what colour to give their clothing. So that'll require a bit of testing ^_^
