Grizwald714
I called gw today because I got some screwed up gw models. I ended up talking to this really cool guy and I asked him about thunder wolves base sizes and if I can use other companies thunder wolves in gw tournaments. He basically told me that can use the ones I got till the ones they r making come out and they will be on 60mm bases. He accidentally told me this and realized it. then he froze for a couple awkward seconds and then tied to tell me that he was talking about and quickly tried to change the subject of our conversation but it was so obvious that he told me something that he wasn't allowed. The way he said it it sounds like they will be out sooner rather then latter. OnlyInDeath
typically they dont know that amount of information on the store level until things are in production. Huh, good to know. could be that our 2nd wave is coming much sooner than expected! Mithril hound
Uhhhhh I doubt they will be as good as the Mr Dandy ones. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216334-gw-thunder-wolf-models/#findComment-2579070 Share on other sites
CainTheHunter
I hope they don't make them metal. I don't want another lot of minis, which are nasty to put together and can break your toes by accidentally falling on them  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216334-gw-thunder-wolf-models/#findComment-2579082 Share on other sites
Marshal Wilhelm
That could mean one of three things.... 1] Don't buy non-GW ones. GW will do them for the same or at least close. 2] Buy non-GW ones. GW will sell theirs for a lot and the independents will increase their prices. 3] GW's will be more expensive, but not ridiculously so and so both are viable [outside of GW tournaments] - meaning you can buy both. Glad to have given definitive advice :D The thing is, this is just hearsay [not to knock you Griz] until we get a heads up from GW. Proceed as normal as if you hadn't heard this?.... Also, will GW make a handsome TW or will we end up with mini-Fangirs? Meaning will GW isolate those who have already bought Canis or will they follow up with, imo, a bad model as a show of solidarity? GW prefer not to overburden themselves. If they can do things in a simple and fast way - sort of spamming and re-using old templates, be sure that they will do it. The new StormRaven concept which looks like a crossover between Valkyrie and Landraider kits is a sound example of this approach. So, IMO, if they already have Fangir, why not make some other unique models by using the same template? Let's say -not-a-Fangir looking to the right and not wiggling his tail, not-a-Fangir wiggling his tail, not-a-Fangir with a left front paw raised but still wiggling his tail, etc. And also making 100% sure that none of these not-Fangirs could be used for Canis conversions - by making them smaller or placing a Runic inscription on them - "This is not Fangir. © GW" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216334-gw-thunder-wolf-models/#findComment-2579088 Share on other sites

Skalver
At least GW took a chance on Fangir and tried to scale him up in a realistic way. An 8 foot tall wolf would be highly unlikely to have the exact same proportions as the max 3 foot tall wolves we see here. I think a lot of the models are basically just upscaled models of modern wolves which just seems odd. I think a lot of the flak the fangir model gets is due to his proportions not being the same as those of modern wolves which is an unfair criticism, an 8 foot wolf capable of carrying a fully armored Space Marine would be nothing like a modern wolf in proportion. It is why a lot of the TWC models just look wrong to my eyes, since they are sized like real wolves it looks more like the Space Marines have shrank to the size that they can ride around on normal wolves than it does that the wolves scaled up to be 8 foot tall.
