I believe it helps if you have a nice area to work, please find attached photos of my work station.

I have converted my old computer desk into work station,It is situated in my conservatory which gives me loads of natural light also have an adjustable light in case it gets dark. I also have speakers linked to my laptop to allow me to listen to my favourite podcasts. Which currently are ‘Life after the Cover save & The Overlords’.

I made the paint pot stand out of some plywood & PVA glue, nothing special but it allows me to see the colours I need.

I also was able to take advantage of some pots my other half had for beading which allows me to keep components which I have cut from a sprue together i.e. weapons Chaos Spawn bits, Conversion bits etc.

I am sure this has been done before but i think it is interesting to see how other/current members do there modeling.

These are some old pictures. I've reorganized a lot of things since taking these but they'll get the point across.

pffttt.... you people and your desk.... :D

I have one... But I never sit at it. I do all my work on the floor where I watch tv or play video games at the same time.

As you can see the entire den of the house is my lair.

I have just relocated so my workstation hasn't been properly broken in, but the first hints of controlled Chaos are showing.

gallery_53411_5480_475694.jpg

You can see the progression of projects based on their location from the paint: Top left are models that are yet to be "re-purposed", under them are models that have yet to be base painted, under them are models waiting to be painted, to the right of the paints are models I have to base and the models protecting my mouse are finished..(until I decide to "re-purpose" them...)

My Storage/Cast Off/Bitz Box/Tub

This is why the desk is "clean," everything else is in the tub.

Well, almost everything

My bed during the day, this is where my models hide so I don't realize how much I still have to paint...

Pretty much everything gets done here except the airbrushing and priming. I am extremely OCD about keeping my work area clean and organized so my desk almost always looks like this at the end of every week. I tend to break out a project Sunday afternoon/evening, work in it all week, and come Thursday/Friday when I am usually busy in the afternoons/weekends, I clean up the desk and return it to the above state. Sunday rolls around and it begins again.

I like the people with bits and sprues around their feet:P I've found that the more I get, the more my hobby stuff oozes forth from my "station" onto the surrounding area. It's like creep from StarCraft...

Excuse the poor photo quality, I only have an iPhone for pictures. On a side note, you may also notice an empty bowl or two of cereal in the photo... I swear live by that stuff! (Peanut Butter Captain Crunch to be exact...)

I'm lucky enough to have claimed a small closet in our apartment:

These photos are from when I first got set up / moved in... since then there's a bit more stuff occupying those shelves and I got a decent drafting chair to sit on.

Here's my desk/workstation. To be honest it's actually quite clean atm ;)

Pair of rather WiP StormRavens with their parts in the bags at the back, a paper Dread to scale the harness for them and my Land Raider who's due for another series of modifications about now :)

I count myself extremely lucky. My work station & shelves (post # 9) was actually my lovely wife's idea. Before that, I had all my miniatures occupying a vacant shelf on a book self and my paints & everything were stored away in a closet & I had to haul everything into the kitchen. Now I have my own space in the living room so I can paint/convert without being isolated from the rest of my family.

And there's where I put my minis.

(some minis here are really really old ones, and I now have a shelf on the wall where I put them)
