dreadnought sillyness-

Just for a little fun i threw together something i always wanted to see for an army list.

A marine dread army(as opposed to an orky one), my fellow gamers indulged my insanty and i battled an uthwei themed force a friend is building up.

so here is how i broke it down-

HQ

1.FW chaplain dread DCCW/HF, assault cannon, extra armor

2.MOTF with full harness PW/BP

TROOP

1.dreadnought with DCCW/HF, assault cannon, extra armor

2.dreadnought with DCCW/HF, plasma cannon, extra armor

3.dreadnought with DCCW/HF, twinf linked autocannon, extra armor

ELITE

1.venerable las/missle dread with extra armor

2.venerable las/missle dread with extra armor

3.venerable las/missle dread with extra armor

HEAVY SUPPORT

1.ironclad dread with dual DCCW/HF, X2 HK missiles, assault launchers

2.ironclad dread with dual DCCW/HF, X2 HK missiles, assault launchers

3.ironclad dread with dual DCCW/HF, X2 HK missiles, assault launchers

The eldar list included

.eldrad

.avatar

.Dire avenger squad

.banshee squad

.10 wraithguard

.guardian squad with shuriken cannon platform

.X2 wave serpent with twin linked bright lance

.X3 wraithlord with bright lance/missiel launcher

The game was 3 objectives at 2K with table quarters deplyment.

I managed to go first but i kept much of my army in reserve so i spent the first couple turns sniping the avatar. as thngs came in i gradualy wore down the guardians, killed a wraithlord, wounded a second. understandably with no scoring units this was going to be a tie or an anihilation if i could not pull out a win.

He managed to kill my ironclads at just the right time to keep 2 of them from charging him. he tried a ram withhis serpents in the final turn, it was quite something when both serpents slamed into my dreads and got immobilised for thier trouble. fortunately for him he took the engine upgrade that keeps him from critically destroying himself and all occupants .

He ended up grabbing 2 objectives for the win.

It was quite an enjoyable game for both of us, i look forward to playing around with it again.

Now for a few more pics-

Try out more ranged weapons next time! Ironclads should, IMO, be switched out for more ranged dreads/ven dreads.

They all serve thier purpose and fit different roles(as well as slots on the FOC). the only way to get more ranged firepower would be to take more "troop" standard dreads. however i like the ironclads and they always do well for me.

Great themed battle! Advice:

Drop pods. Lots of.

I used pod extensively in the past, i have found them less effective. easily countered due to drop pod assault especially by eldar. i find that walking dreads in from reserve after the enemy has closed in is a far more effective tactic. not to mention i hove no points to really drop on pods in this list.
