Tsavong Lah
This past weekend I played in my first Apocalypse game with my gaming group. We had about 18,000 points per side, and my Space Wolves made up about 3000 of the points on our team. My army is still fairly small for an Apoc game, but I have been collecting a bunch of SW Terminators recently because I love the models and the way that they play, and since this is Apocalypse I thought I'd do something goofy and field 10 Lone Wolves in Terminator Armour with a mix of SS/TH and SS/CF. I was planning on them being an epic distraction, maybe killing a few cool models while focusing enemy fire on themselves, leaving my allies' superheavies undisturbed to go about their task of blowing :cuss up with D weaponry. Anyway, as I'm sure all of you knew the second I said "10 Lone Wolves" but I didn't realize until halfway through the battle, 10 Lone Wolves are insanely effective BAMFs on the battlefield. Two of them never even made it into combat, one sitting on a home objective all game and the other just being poorly placed by me (Apoc tables are huge!), but the remaining eight Lone Wolves managed to kill: 1 Stompa (all by themselves!) 1 other Stompa (already taken down a couple structure points by a Baneblade or something) 1 Eldar superheavy tank... a Scorpion I think? 1 Leman Russ Executioner 2 Space Marine Captains 1 Ork Warboss and several miscellaneous infantry squads accompanying the three independent characters above. And on top of all that, six of those eight survived the battle. Needless to say, they all got promoted to Wolf Guard! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216576-lone-wolves-in-apocalypse/ Share on other sites
JCarter
Interesting. In every Apoc game I have ever played, there were so many superheavies and tanks on the board that the survival time of infantry units was almost nil. Must be fun to have played in that game. CainTheHunter
Since the FoC is ignored for Apoc, I once saw a list made by one fellow SW player, which consisted of Lone Wolves in PA with MoTW. IIRC the list consisted of 39 Lone wolves and that was all of the list. He never fielded it, since he does not have that many models to represent MoTW :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216576-lone-wolves-in-apocalypse/#findComment-2582744 Share on other sites
