Vanilla with Blood Angels

I am just thinking about the possibility of fielding vanilla marine units (eg, ironclads, thunderfire cannon or even special characters) alongside a blood angels army. I don't really know how that would work or if I would have to use my BA as count as vanilla.

What are your thoughts.

Well, the standard answer is that you can't mix and match two different Codices together. Use only one at a time.

But (there's always a but) if your opponent is okay with it, why not. Be prepared to get a lot of declining answers from people you don't know though, since our Codex is considered one of the stronger Codices around.

The answer is generally no. You would probably have to use BA or Space Marines, not both. In fun games you could but only if you had the promission of the oppoment and allowed him some exceptions, but it's not standard for lists to do so.

The only lists that still can is Witchhunters I think.

perdo alongside ba stenguard would be a bit much. we cant take their special charactes for good reason. id have no problem with thunderfires, dont see why youd want iron clads when we have furiso dread...?

Excellent point. Otherwize if you find people to play that style (which is deff not unheard of) I would rock out those thunderfire Cannons. IMO Using the Vanilla "Special Characters" would be a bit too much. I played that way with an ally and he used the character that grants twin linked to all meltaguns and flamers.. Needles to say with all my Assault squads using assault weapons it was pretty lethal. Popped tanks like crazy with that
