MagicMan Posted December 9, 2010 Share Posted December 9, 2010 Hey, basically i thought i'd set up this thread as an incentive/encouragement towards the painting of my Space Marines. Ive had most of the models for years now, but never really gotten around to painting them due to me being particularly indecisive when it comes to colour schemes. Anyway, me and the friend i game with have set up a painting challenge, get 500 points done the first month, followed by 250 each following month, no gaming with unfinished models. My first 500 Points : HQCaptain 118pts Done-ish Storm Bolter/ Power Weapon Troops 10 x Tactical Marines 170pts Flamer/Missile Launcher 5 x Scouts 85pts Sniper Rifles/Missile Launcher Elites Dreadnought 125pts Done Assault Cannon/Heavy Flamer Now im not trying to win any awards, so its gaming standard pretty much all the way, and i can return to touch them up as and when the mood takes me; and i may post some WIP, but anyway here goes... I wanted him to look like he was reaching for an opponent, maybe ill get a little Vader helmet to replace the Chaos Warrior one. Thanks for the kind words! MagicMan Posted December 10, 2010 Author Share Posted December 10, 2010 Im pretty tempted. But I just had a look at the GW site and noticed that 10 Chaos/Loyalist Marines now costs 22.50 pounds. Insanity. I haven't bought any new models in a year or so because i wanted to get what i had painted, but the prices have shot way up. Anyway heres a size comparison of the Word Bearer dude i did, and heres some blue tacked possible poses for a few mates of his. Ive got just under 750 painted, so im fairly happy. 5 Termies will bring me up to a 1000. Im in no hurry, and thoroughly sick of black and white, which brings me to... I think maybe i should have put the flash on... Oh well. Im slowly getting used to freehanding the symbol, which is why they aren't the same on each model. I guess its suitably chaotic. If i ever get round to making one... Nice work, the word bearers could be a tad darker in my opinion though. Man, you can't paint sh**! Just kidding, of course ^^ Your (I assume these are supposed to be) Word Bearers look great! Really inspriring... Perhaps I shouldn't sell the remains of my chaos stuff at all and... err... whatever. Thanks a lot! The first one's the coolest CSM so far. Heres a few pictures of how the army's coming along. Its not the best paint scheme, but at least its something i can actually get done... Haha.
