kizzap88
Well I thought I would start a project log to get my backside into gear and get this army assembled and painted. So lets see how this goes... Ok, so I guess where I should start is with all the models that I have in stock, just waiting to be completed: Unknown number of terminators to assembled and painted (possibly around 8 or so) 1 Belial character 1 Sammael character to build (really dislike the current model) 2 Ravenwing attack squadrons (with standard bearer modification) 1 FW DA MKIIB landraider Enough to do? I think so for now... What I have done so far: My initial beginning was a belial model, but I just dont think it was "epic" enough for a special character. This model was made about a year and a half ago, and Im not too happy with the paint: http://users.tpg.com.au/kizzap/Warhammer/Random2.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/kizzap/Warhammer/Random1.jpg (edit: just removed the IMG tags, as I didnt want this model to be what people saw this thread as...) And here is where I am staring again: Apothecary: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Apothecary1.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Apothecary2.jpg I'm generally happy with the paint job on this, however there is still some things in my skills of painting that I need to improve. Enough of that I guess, Lets get onto the point of this thread. Works in progress: Firstly, here is my current progress with a new Belial model: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Belial1.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Belial2.jpg As you can see, he needs ALOT of work still. Namely a robe of some form, a good head of some form, and a decent base, which will be a lot of fun in itself. Any other recommendations on what else he needs? And then some other models I have in waiting: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Random4.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Random3.jpg The brownstuff you can see on the models is my experimenting with it, having never used it before. So thats were I stand right now, I do have some other models lying in wait to be shown to the world, which I will get to when I finish these squads. I really would love to hear any comments or criticism on my models. Kizzap. Mithril hound
I think you should switch the shoulder pads around, so the thin bits are not pointing in.. kizzap88
I think you should switch the shoulder pads around, so the thin bits are not pointing in.. I did think about that, however the only problem with that idea is that the sword and wings would be facing inwards, which I think would look a little silly. I'll have to have a think about it. kizzap88
Thought that I would take a chance to update on my progress on Belial so far: I have moved the shoulderpads downwards on the arms, so that they aren't looking so out of place. I think this has made the model look a little better. I've also started and finished sculpting out the robes and Im happy with how they have turned out. I might need to take some sand paper to them but I'll find that out when I primecoat them. I had a lot of fun working on the base as well, especially trying to get that tyranid (sp?) head sticking out. I ended up having to cut the head from the body and reculpt out a neck. enough text, here are a couple of pictures: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Belial3.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Belial4.jpg He still needs a face, and I still haven't decided on what head to use. Any recommendations would be cool. thanks for looking Kizzap Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216753-kizzaps-dark-angels/#findComment-2592629 Share on other sites
Natanael
Looking good. The robes look like they fold a bit too symetrical, but they look kinda good anyway :P What is that brick wall made of? - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216753-kizzaps-dark-angels/#findComment-2592765 Share on other sites
kizzap88
Thanks for the comments Natanel, I understand what you mean about the robes looking a little too symmetrical, however I did it that way for a couple of reasons: A) because it is easier to do that way, and B) because it makes the robes look undamaged, and my ideas for the army are that they are levels above generic space marines (they are terminators after all) and having the nicely flowing robes gives that impression of "I'm way more deadly then you. Bring it on." As for the brick wall, I cut it out of a cork sanding block. I remember reading way back about someone using cork tiling to make brickwork, and I couldn't find any cork tiling so I bought the sanding block. Cheap and will possiby be more versatile. Shortsonfire79
Wow, cool stuff. I think your paint on the termies look great, except the Crux's, the skulls could use a wash or something, just very lightly, to bring out the eyes, teeth and nose. ^_^ Your greenstuffing is nice, but as Natanael said, a bit symmetrical, but still ace. The wall looks good, and its funny seeing the head popping out of the bottom. :P Great stuff, I'd like to see your more currently painted DW. kizzap88
Small update, no before pictures with this one, but it is pretty obvious what went on... Painted up a librarian: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Librarian1.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/Librarian2.jpg The Crux's really annoy the crap out of me, I just struggle to get them right. As to any more of my army, basically what I have here is all that I have painted up. More coming soon hopefully. kapturowski
Your sculpting is very good, I like how smooth the robes look. Belial looks much better with the shoulderpads new position. kizzap88
In accordance with the LPC rules, here is a WIP of my painting challenge promise of a full squad (5) terminators: Firstly here is a fully sculpted Terminator with SB/PS. I "borrowed" the idea for the power sword from someone on this site: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/sword1.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/sword2.jpg Then there is this guy, which will be fun to finish...I decided that I would try to do something a little more advanced to what I am used to, and this is the current point that I have gotten to. All I can say is, reposing a leg is a lot harder then it looks. http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/repose1.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/repose2.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/repose3.jpg Thanks for looking Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216753-kizzaps-dark-angels/#findComment-2631239 Share on other sites

cathar the great
The repositioned foot doesn't look good like that. You essentially gave the miniature another joint, which is not how anatomy works. What I would do is reduce the amount of GS between the leg and hip so you can move the leg up. More or less like this: Hope this helps. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216753-kizzaps-dark-angels/#findComment-2633105 Share on other sites

Disruptor_fe404
My grasp of anatomy is average at best, but Mr. Fantastic is probably the only person who'll be able to fit into that armour. you're headed in the right direction, you just might need to go a little further. As cathar the great mentioned though, it's your mini, so if you like it that's all good. kizzap88
I think i will leave it now as it is, by the time that I put some robes on him, it shouldnt be visible at all. kizzap88
I think it is about time that I update this thread... I'm really digging your greenstuff work. Would you mind sharing how you make the robes? As you requested: The way I do my robes is pretty simple. It goes like this: Firstly start of with a random model, partially assembled as so: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut1.jpg Then take some plastic card and add some supports as so: (generally there is supports on the front and back, with a gap in between) As you can see, i've already started the first fold of the robe. The general idea is to get two smooth and even surfaces in the greenstuff. To get the right size i find rolling the greenstuff into a cone shape helps. http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut2.jpg Then do the same on the other side, working from the outside to the inside: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut3.jpg I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves from here on, it is pretty obvious as to what is going on.. http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut4.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tute5.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut6.jpg The important part now is to feed your pet snake: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/snake.jpg (and yes that is the correct orientation of that image...) After feeding the snake, start on the back. I started by having a rounded surface as a foundation: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut7.jpg however this time, start from the inside and work outwards: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut8.jpg (sorry about the lack of pictures here, kinda got into the zone) http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/tut9.jpg and thus ends the tutorial. after which you can resume the assembly of the mini. and a small update to the complete minis: TLC: http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/TLC.jpg and TH/SS http://users.tpg.com.au/luce90/Warhammer/THSS.jpg will be an update again very soon. Thanks for looking. Kizzap Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216753-kizzaps-dark-angels/#findComment-2692025 Share on other sites
