Marshal Wilhelm
QUESTION: Has anyone used the P3 colour; Cygnus Yellow, and did you find it similar in colour to Golden Yellow or Sunburst Yellow from GW? Was its coverage and opaqueness superior? Somebody fell in love ;) .... B) .... NO WAY! .... maybe a little  :P Can only say that after now trying Valjeo, I doubt I'll be going back to gw apart from washes. Got to admit I nearly had an accident when I saw the range of colours. Gun metal grey will have to be bought next for me. Just got to remember to shake the hell out of it before use. Oh, and they have pink but also a fluorescent range! GW does do good metallics, to be fair. Check out this post from: FROM THE WARP and there is another one subsequent to it as well. Both good to read. I bought some squid pink from Vallejo, as GW doesn't seem to run tentacle pink anymore. Boo! +++ Thank you to everyone who has posted, you are enriching my hobby life :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216979-p3-and-vallejo-paints/page/2/#findComment-2814068 Share on other sites
Azatoth
Over here (Germany) we drop a small stainless steel ball into the Vallejo bottles, it helps with shaking and is reuseable. Forté
Over here (Germany) we drop a small stainless steel ball into the Vallejo bottles, it helps with shaking and is reuseable. may have to find some. Oh, as for GW metallics. Yes they are good but the gun metal is a really dark metallic which I like. Marshal Wilhelm
So I have used the Khador Red Base last night. It is not a replacement for Blood Red. Blood Red is brighter, and so more satisfying to use as the uppermost highlights on cloaks, etc. KRB is a decent enough paint, but it doesn't push BR off its perch. I will try Vallejo Scarlet [model colour, iIrc] on the next cloak I do. The Khardic flesh works well enough. KF, then Devlan mud, then KF with Bleached bone on the raised areas. Maybe Ogryn flesh is a bit too red for me, but I'll try that next time instead of the Devlan mud. All good stuff :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216979-p3-and-vallejo-paints/page/2/#findComment-2816155 Share on other sites
Serraphim
Over here (Germany) we drop a small stainless steel ball into the Vallejo bottles, it helps with shaking and is reuseable. I'm cheap so I use the metal tabs at the bottom of metal minis. Just cut them up into small squares and drop a couple into the bottle. It's actually the first thing I do when I buy Vallejoes. Marshal Wilhelm
MOAR QUESTIONS! G'day once again brothers, I was thinking about P3's Thamar Black. How 'black' is it, as in, is it a close match for GW's Chaos Black? AND Have people used the Army Painter set of brushes, and how do they compare to GW's current range? Thank you for your help  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216979-p3-and-vallejo-paints/page/2/#findComment-3019245 Share on other sites
MedPig
I've never seen a rule that says you can't mix and match for best results. I have about 200 oil-based model paint bottles (Mostly Testor's Model Master), 150 Reaper paints, 50 or so P3, 200 Vallejo, and everything in the current GW line. As long as you don't put oil paints over Acrylics, there's no harm in mixing it up. My Necrons are primed black with oil-based paint, a deep green for the ceramic areas, and everything else including clan markings are done with acrylics. No problems so far, finish it all off with an acrylic seal coat, and you're good to go. :D Here's a chart to compare: http://www.miniaturewargaming.com/index.ph...mparison_guide/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/216979-p3-and-vallejo-paints/page/2/#findComment-3019403 Share on other sites
