BLACK BLΠFLY
I played in a team tourney today. It was 1250 points per player. Here is how I ran my army: The Sanguinor Chaplain/jump pack, infernus pistol Chaplain/jump pack, infernus pistol 2x Sanguinary Priest/jump packs & power swords + meltabombs 2x assault squad (identical) Sergeant/thunderhammer & stormshield Marines/meltagun & flamer Each assault squad had both a priest and chaplain attached. One squad their sergeant received the Sanguinor's blessing. Wow these squads really tore it up and I was very impressed with their performance. I am considering revamping my current list to run these units. They provided close to the performance of Death Company without having to deal with the Rage. Midnightmare
Certainly very aggressive! DOA? Who did you team up with?
I am Legion
It sounds like a nice tight army, but at 1250 points, wernt you worried that you take massive casualties? Like from a guard pie plate?
BLACK BLΠFLY
I was teamed up with a drop pod (Grey Hunters)/Long Fang army. This was a very nice combination. Two of the missions were difficult but we still did well. I have an aggressive play style. Versus IG I will drop in beside a couple of LRBT coming in very close, pop one and hope the other scatters. We had enough combined troops it's okay and 2/3 of the time the pie plates will scatter. Sometimes you've got to take some risks if there is a good payoff in return. We played against the following armies: Orks (Thrakka) & CSM IG & Orks IG & Tyranids (gene stealer cult) Ended up smashing the first two teams then almost tabled the last team - they had one Broodlord left down to it's last wound. The two assault squads of mine were really fierce - I'm definitely considering revamping my current 2k list to include them. G :)
The Yncarne
The two assault squads of mine were really fierce - I'm definitely considering revamping my current 2k list to include them. So you think the unit will perform as well in a scaled up list. Would you take that squad as your two troop choices or add more of them? What do you use for your long range support or objective holders?
BLACK BLΠFLY
Usually my only long range shooting is by way of a Stormraven. I'm really sold on the Stormraven by the way. The bulk of my shooting is by way of deepstriking squads with meltas - drop in and shoot then launch assaults the following turn. If I were to run these two assault squads as presented here then I'd just have to change out one of the sergeants from power fist/infernus pistol to thunderhammer/stormshield. Next I would have to make room for the two chaplains and an extra Sanguinary Priest (I already run one Priest with a jump pack and power sword). Looking at my present list the first thing that would have to be dropped is the Furioso and that's a hard call. It might just be better to simply add one chaplain so I can run one super unit of assault Marines. :D G :cuss
The Yncarne
Thanks for the prompt reply. I remember reading you like the Stormraven. I haven't played with one yet as I am not a strong scratch builder. I also haven't done the drop pod thing; I prefer the jump pack list. It is always interesting seeing other ways to play the army. Brother Nathan
i would suggest for that list a libby with sheild of sanguinus instead of one of the chappys. a single pie can wipe out the full squad...
