The Shiny One
As nobody is responding to the Iron Cherubim, i have an other idea for the theme from a different angle: 21st Founding: Scions of Silence - Probably Raven Guard Geneseed, but not quite known. - Through the fixing/improving of the Geneseed in the 21st founding, the marines are mute after full development, but have a higher number of psychics than usual, and are able to communicate through tech and limited telepathy. All commanders are therefor psychics, because the are able of full telepathy. - They are structured around this, so no chaplains and captains, the don't have a chapter master, the are organised in 10 brotherhoods, with a Librarian as Commanders > 10 Librarians decide over the chapter (like the Ironfathers for the IH). And every brotherhood has its one scouts. - The have an unusual urge for knowledge (probably to cure the defect), which brings them close to radical fractions of the Imperium, and eventually excommunicates them in the end and drives them into the eye of terror. - as for combat doctrines i see them quite close to the Raven Guard, surgical strikes, with lots of planing, this makes them even more hated by other sm chapters, so there excommunication is only a matter of time. They have a quite low number of tanks, because they prefer shock attacks, no long-winded sieges. - as communication with outsiders is very difficult they are unable to defeat themselves against any hard cases against them. - after excommunication they start all sorts of chaotic experiments to secure supplies, but only in a radical way, they dont want to be chaos marines, they still belief in only using its powers, still fighting traitor legions, xenos and from now on the corrupted Imperium. - The Obliterator-virus shows an extraordinary effect in combination with there mutated gens: They are able to withstand its complete consumption, but this limits there ability of absorption to low energie weapons and armor. This is what i have so far. Any C&C is very welcome!!! Any ideas for the homeworld? Or does fleetbased seem to fit better? Dosjetka
As nobody is responding to the Iron Cherubim, People do have other things to do in RL and we can't all read every single IA/IT on the sub-forum and give good C&C. Give it a couple of days and you'll see that you'll get some C&C (This doesn't mean that you should give up this idea, but you may want to concentrate on one IA/IT instead of multiple. Many people, including the great and praised Ace Debonair have tried and failed developing many at a time. Just a small suggestion ;) ) Anyway, on to the IT: - Through the fixing/improving of the Geneseed in the 21st founding, the marines are mute after full development, but have a higher number of psychics than usual, and are able to communicate through tech and limited telepathy. All commanders are therefor psychics, because the are able of full telepathy. Sounds good. Maybe also include Astartes and other battle sign-language (like the SoS) into their methods of communication? - They are structured around this, so no chaplains and captains, the don't have a chapter master, the are organised in 10 brotherhoods, with a Librarian as Commanders > 10 Librarians decide over the chapter (like the Ironfathers for the IH). And every brotherhood has its one scouts. I like this, though it's becoming quite common... - The have an unusual urge for knowledge (probably to cure the defect), which brings them close to radical fractions of the Imperium, and eventually excommunicates them in the end and drives them into the eye of terror. A bit Blood Raven-ey, but it fits :) this makes them even more hated by other sm chapters, so there excommunication is only a matter of time. Hated by other Chapters because of their tactics? Strange and, I would think and say, very uncommon. And I don't think that that sole reason would make them Excommunicate. - as communication with outsiders is very difficult they are unable to defeat themselves against any hard cases against them. I think you meant defend ;) And I don't think that it would cause that much of problem... but when I think about it, it actually would. I like it ;) from now on the corrupted Imperium. Corrupted? In what way? Develop on this please :) (WARNING! Hard to pull off correctly, requires a lot of work + explanation) The Obliterator-virus shows an extraordinary effect in combination with there mutated gens: They are able to withstand its complete consumption, but this limits there ability of absorption to low energie weapons and armor. You say they hate Chaos, yet the Obliterator virus is a Chaos spawned virus, IIRC. *** Looks good so far, but it needs a bit more. Quoting Octavulg: "We know they kick ass. They're Space Marines. So tell us about their bubblegum." Looking forward to seeing an update :) Ludovic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217000-it-scions-of-silence-wip/#findComment-2587540 Share on other sites
The Shiny One
Thenk you for the fast reply Battle-Brother Ludovic! Sure people have other stuff to do, but there are many hits, and not one short reply. So i guess the concept wasn't that good. And i find people reply more to short versions, than the "bubblegum". Or thus "bubblegum" mean flaws? You say they hate Chaos, yet the Obliterator virus is a Chaos spawned virus, IIRC. As they are more or less able to control the mutation with there own enhanced psychic talent and mutation, it is more a radical use of chaos than worshiping it. As they will get more radical from the chapters founding up to know, it is clear that the line will blur in the end. In fact the Scions of Silence think bad of other chaos marine, believing they are better than them and more able to control the powers of chaos. Its not implied that they really are in the end. I think you meant defend. And I don't think that it would cause that much of problem... but when I think about it, it actually would. I like it I meant defend. For the whole excommunicated over time, i meant, that if they ally with radicals, have radical opinions, follow a dangerous/"heretic" quest for knowledge and understanding, and are not able to defend themselves verbally, it is only a matter of time, till some inquisitors will excommunicate them. And there will be lots of willing sm chapters, who saw the Scions of Silence always as weak, because of there fighting style. The conflict with other chapters is from the Raven Guard: A Comprehensive History: However this tendency causes some tension with other Astartes Chapters who the Raven Guard consider blunt and clumsy, such as the Blood Angels. It could be possible that i understood it wrong, and it means they have trouble with other chapters, but i guess this could be seen vice versa. As for the "bubblegum" i imagine giving them a cool homeworld, which influences them and gets destroyed after the excommunication, would make lots of fluff.
