[Commission] Space Hulk Terminators and CAT

Today's photo dumpage. Some work done on the chipping on Omnio (gotta love brand new Series 7's), and the CAT painted up. I'm liking the blue backdrops a lot more than the black - so much easier to photograph on.

Omnio:

The CAT:

Both together:

The chips are pretty easy - just paint blobs of your extreme highlight colour (with a DECENT brush - new Series 7's for me today, yay!) and then paint those a very dark colour (off black toward red in this case), leaving a tiny bit of the light colour showing. On the CAT I've put some boltgun metal in there too. Not sure if I'll do that for the terminators, or use a grey colour to represent ceramite.

Man some of you guys on here never cease to amaze me with the details that can be pulled of on a subject soo small. Excellent work Sir.

Oh my that base sets off the suberbly painted terminator a treat. Stunning work.

May i ask the recipe you use to paint the glowing lenses - both the green and the bluey one?

The green:

Paint light source black.

Paint light source snot green. Glaze snot green to light source (stronger towards). Allow the black to provide a keyline, but soften it a bit with the glaze. Apply edge highlights with snot green.

Paint light source scorpion green. Glaze scorpion green / snot green mix toward light source. Apply edge highlight with scorpion green.

Paint light source scorpion green/ VMC ivory (very slightly off white, slightly yellow/brown). Final highlight with a bit more ivory.

The blue is the same, using UM blue rather than snot green, and progressively just adding VMC ivory rather than a mid colour.

The yellow used golden yellow with a gentle glaze of VMC red orange (rojo amarantha) to soften it a bit.

And a group shot. Note the added 'gore' on Noctis. These guys are angry you spilled their ketchup. And they will find you.

Very nice as always mate, the only issue I have is that with Blood Angels I like a nice strong use of shading and highlighting, these don't do that much which puts me off a bit, but that's just me and the do look superb anyway!

More progress. Squad Lorenzo is pretty much done. Going to try to finish the sergeant this week, should hopefully get Claudio and the Librarian done next week. Having some issues with the paintwork on the brass etch, will probably drybrush it up a bit to give it some more variation in tone.

Lorenzo done. Quite pleased with the OSL on the sword and face here. Also quite pleased with the hair - it's more complex than it looks...:

Holy Balls

Just awesome - your lighting effects on (and from) the power weapons are perfect. Lorenzo is among the best paintjobs I've ever seen.

Now I don't even want to paint my SH termies because they won't even be remotely close to this.

Great work!

These guys are great! Every time I see these models I want to go on Ebay and buy my own set...

The lighting effects are great! The red is quite possibly the best I have ever seen.

Current WIPs on this commission. Been building up to trying to OSL highlight the freehand on the Librarian's shoulder pad. Some tweaks needed on Claudio too - notably on the right claw OSL.

Ok, bar the basing, I think these guys are done. Strengthened the OSL on the axe and worked around the freehand on the shoulder. Touched up OSL on the claws. Once these are based, I'll revist all of the terminators with a few pigment washes to knock back that bright green foliage and give it some variation, then it's varnishing time.

The OSL on the Librarian's pauldron is way tasty as is the energy effect, nice colour selection for this peice. I'm slowly working my way along the removal of blood drops etc on my Hulk figs in the vauge hope of resculpting so they fit better with my army, long process but worth it as these minis are way cool.

Really awesome stuff! Very inspiring.

The OSL on the librarians axe looked a bit odd to me and it took me a while to work out why. Its really well done everywhere except the cabling to the axe (especially the yellow and black one) where I cant seem to make out any. Id have a go at either adding it (or strengthening it if it is already there but very subtly).

And they're done. I've washed back the foliage on all the bases so it's not so 'Aiee! My eyes!' green. Pretty pleased with the libby. Should get the varnish on tomorrow assuming I can dig out the airbrush without melting (hot weather makes a conservatory studio room unpleasant).
