Salamanders--- new to the chapter :D

Well, i recently finished reading Salamander, and Firedrake by Nick Kyme, and it got me addicted to the idea of collecting Salamanders.

So the first model i bought was the Captain..... but when i opened the box, i found that it doesnt have a Thunder Hammer in it D:

So i attempted my first ever conversion....using parts from the BA death company, and personally i think it looks good.

BUT THEN, none of the "shooty" arms in the command box go on the left arm (god knows why), so i did another conversion and added a jump pack :P

You could maybe use more mobile pair of legs and he's missing a shoulderpad ;)

Otherwise, pretty neat.

I know he's missing a shoulder pad :P

im waiting to buy a set of Alpha Legion pads that portray a Drake, so im using them for my Sallies :P (using an idea from a games workshop post)

and about the more stationary legs, i wanted it to be like hes more in the middle of melee, not recklessly charging forward....but thanks for the advice, im painting him soon-ish

I heard that book sucked ass :D

Ditto, if it's anything like Salamander it isn't fit for a pile of kindling... :D

Anywho, not bad. He kinda looks a bit off though: between a Storm Bolter, a Hammer, and a Jump Pack, he's more wargear than space marine. Could be funny if you paint them in Playschool colors :D Reposing the hammer backwards to rest on his shoulder or downward to make it seem as heavy as it looks may help alleviate the awkwardness.

Just my two bits ;)

Thanks for the advice guys :) I'm scrapping the jump pack when I get home from college, and the blood drip will be gone before I paint it  Personally I love Nick Kyme's portrayal of the chapter, but every guy to his own :)

And due to this still being WIP, there will still be changes made :P gonna post my tactical squad sergeant later aswell, another subtle conversion, one seen quite a bit, but it just looks nice and clean

Welcome brother! I might be a successor, but a son of Vulkan is a son of Vulkan

He looks good so far, I'm sure you'll get more actual thoughts when the paint starts coming on.

I enjoyed salamander, except for a few things ( like very, very, very old marines... ) and I'm currently reading the second book.

Keep it up!

Just posting my latest additions :)

The change in the Commanders backpack is from quite an old sprue that i was given time ago.....i think it looks pretty decent <_<

And two tactical squad sergeants i wipped up as something extra.

Theres still a few bits im gonna touch up on each model, and the hand flamer on one of the sergeants, will (in game), just be used a bolt pistol, but i though it went with the image.

you need to take the bottom off the thunder hammer becasue it should have two parts to it maybe green stuff a bit on the end also you need to take off the blood drop on the hammer but nice model. i like the use of the hand flamer on the one model i have one on my jump pack marines and am using it as a stand in flamer
