Legatus
There is no "the story". There is one account in the Dark Angels sources, describing that Russ was envious and angry because Jonson defeated a particular traitor, and then there is one account in the Space Wolves sources, describing that in one battle the Dark Angels suddenly moved from their position and left the Space Wolves flank open, causing some casualties among them. MadDoc
Yes, there is no "the story"... well, except for the eye of god version that was published in White Dwarf alongside the 'Lion and the Wolf' tale that told of Russ and the Lion's reconciliation on Terra after the Lion almost slew Russ (who was content to let him at the time), but that couldn't possibly be what I was referring to. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217277-primarch-friendships/page/3/#findComment-2951330 Share on other sites
Legatus
Pardon me, it sounded like you were refering to te Dark Angels account of teh story, where Jonson had spent weeks preparing his attack and was not willing to stand down just so that Russ could avenge a slight. Nope, the eye of god version of the story where the same thing is noted to happen. The Lion told Russ he wouldn't stand down just so that he could sooth his bruised ego (my words there) and that following his plan was the better course of action, rather than a meatgrinding frontal assault.
