Master of fact
Yay :) Awesome sauce! How do you do the eye lenses? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217472-completed-deathwing-squad/#findComment-2593682 Share on other sites
tyrannosaurus
Looking sick man, really like the black/yellow hazard stripes and the bollet holes. Not sure about giving you constructive criticism as your skills are way above mine, maybe a darker green on the chest eagle? Kinda detracts from the eyes a little as they seem to be the same colour. Also the 'dirt' patches are a little splotchy. But that's being picky. Overall sweet models. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
"Any advice" he says. "Please critique these" he says. He must be joking. How does one critique such excellent models as these? Isiah
Yeah these are good, very good. I love the overall 'battered' look and the hazard striping specifically. Great basing too. Firepower
Excellent work. I can only think of one bit of advice, specifically on the scripture. The solid black text seems a bit odd considering how faded, beaten, and battered everything else on the model is. Maybe try a dark brown or reddish color? demio
thanks for the comments all. the eyes were done using the tutorial on this site and as for the power sword i couldnt fin a good way of painting it that went with the beaten and worn look but ill look into it for the next squad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217472-completed-deathwing-squad/#findComment-2593822 Share on other sites
Chapter Master Ignis Domus
If you don't normally paint the power field on a fist, there's no reason to paint it on the sword. They wouldn't keep it on all the time. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217472-completed-deathwing-squad/#findComment-2593827 Share on other sites
Scathainn
Simplest way to paint a power sword, imo: 1. Paint it a bright colour (let's say Blue) 2. On about the top half of the blade, blend in a lighter shade of the same colour. 3. On the very tip, blend in an even lighter shade. 4. Wash the whole blade with a wash corresponding to that colour. Easy. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217472-completed-deathwing-squad/#findComment-2594087 Share on other sites
blackbabyjesus
the models are excellent and the battle damage very authentic, however, they're not perfect. I personally would for the next batch make the hazard stripes a lot tidier before adding the battledamage and as previously mentioned, get that powersword looking shiny!
