Captain Juan Juarez
The reason why Sisters "fall" in the novels has a lot to do with how BL authors treat them. They are always the punching bags for BL authors. The cool stuff Sisters can do is always ignored when the book is not about them and sometimes even then. This. Where are the novels with Living Saints owning Greater Daemons? Where are the novels where sister by holding fast to their faith overcomes the odds and emerge victorious? Oh well I'm sure in our next codex will have a Cannoness punching out an Ork Warboss or some such thing. :P What would be so interesting about that? The lovely thing about the Sisters - in terms of fiction - is that they can have human frailties very unlike the Astartes. EDIT: Damn the typos, full speed ahead! andrewm9
"Ludmilla turned to Alaric. 'I know the Grey Knights have never had a brother lose their mind to Chaos. But the Adepta Sororitas have lost Sisters to the Enemy before. It is rare, and no one will admit to it, but...'"pg 239 of the GK omnibus This is the same book where Alaric almost forgets himself and goes over to Khorne. He loses faith. Its been awhile since I read it but basically someone wakes his faith back up and he shakes it off. That proves to me that Grey Knights are just as "human" as the rest and can fall to chaos. There are so few of them though and they usually killed before this happens. He had an extended stay on a chaos planet cut off from his psychic powers and aegis armor that woudl protect him from the influence. He ends up not falling to Chaos by luck but if you want to take that as a valuable source (the books) then take it all. I think it sworth noting that the Aegis protects Grey Knights in the TT as well as Sisters' Shield of Faith. Take from that what you will. Because it would be nice to see their strengths showcased once. To my knowledge they have not been. Sisters are always psychically dominated, possessed, or have failed to hold something in everyone elses books. Even in Faith and Fire the Sisters fail to stop a psychic from laying open thier mind bare. There is one miracle performed thier where the Celestian squad survives a psychic storm by praying really hard. We have dozens of novels and fluff about IG and Space marines doing all of these amazing things but one about Sisters. Anytime they are featured in a role they are used as punching bags by the author. Warsmith Aznable
Because it would be nice to see their strengths showcased once. Agreed. The books are there to make players and potential players interested in the factions. Every faction should have a "we are awesome" book all of their own. Or at least not look mostly incompetent, even in their own book. Captin Xavier
I have to disagree with you on this point. Being possessed against your will is not the same as willingly turning to chaos. It's all about the choices you make. There are lots of examples of un-willing daemonic possessions, heck even psyker possessions in the background. They always end badly, nut its not the same as being a card caring heretic. Noe does being duped into un-wittingly committing acts that benefit Chaos, count. Afterall even the original Sororitas were duped into opposing the Emperor, by a power mad dictator. When I and most people I've met speak of falling to chaos, it in regards to the person willingly and with full knowledge of their actions choosing to serve the Dark Gods. You say this....be regardless of whether they actually chose to join the ranks of the chaos gods or not, they still have. They may not mentally be the same person, or even physically the same, but their origins are still there. Even if they were corrupted by possession, or what have you, they were once X person from Y place that did Z in year ABCD. Look at it this way.... If a friend of yours was involved in say...drug dealing, and you hold their money for them, not knowing where it came from, you will still be seen as being involved....... See what im saying? A person doesnt have to agree to something for it to actually happen. Thus, a sister could fall, even if she didnt want to. Just my 2 pence :D Cheers Cpt X Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/217536-questions-fallen-sobs/page/2/#findComment-2608805 Share on other sites
*Furyou Miko
Xavier, you're missing the point. Someone who has 'fallen to chaos' through being Possessed or Mentally Dominated has not truly fallen to chaos, because they aren't that person. You hold your friend's money in trust and he gets nailed for drug dealing, you'll be brought in as a witness and possible accomplice... but if any charges are laid against you, you'll probably be acquitted if you can prove ignorance. You hold your friend's money in trust, and it leaps down your throat, kicks you out and starts killing people using your body, are you really going to say "I became a mass murderer because it was my body that did it!"? You weren't in control. You were, in fact, technically dead at the time, having no physical body to interact with the world. Does that mean your body shouldn't be purged? Hell no! It's a gorramn demon, burn it with acid! The important thing is that your soul will still find peace with the Emperor. Probably before the demon wearing your skin even attracts the attention of the Arbites. That's what it means to fall to chaos: To put your soul in a position which leaves it out from under His protective guidance.
