Possible new HH novels? Let me hear your ideas...

Brothers,

We've read some fantastic HH novels which cover battles/legions of the great Heresy and why they turned or didnt.

We've had the Luna Wolves/Sons Of Horus, Emperors Children, Battle for Prospero, etc. And they are all awesome, but what other incidents do you believe deserve a hallowed place in a HH novel? Legions, acts of bravery/tragedy etc.

My suggestions are:

Night Haunter's turn to chaos (including the assassination and destruction of Nostramo)

Perturabo's turn to chaos (including the iron cage incident)

The Blood Angels break-off from their chaos ambush and return to terra

Khan's fight for the defence battery on earth (cant think of the actual name for it)

I think Vulkan's been left out too so something on him too.

Any other ideas?

Definitely Vulkan. The Ultramarines seem to have been forgotten, too. Maybe some more Alpha Legion. The Raven Guard mutations with Bile, plus the stuff about Bile leaving the Emperor's Chdren might be good.

An Ultramarine novel of course. Guilliman has barely appeared so far in the books. A book centering around the battle of Calth would have been far more preferable than Battle of th Abyss.

In fact I would like to see a novel around Guilliman's point of view and have him be written as being awesome, but not in a ''Mary Sue'' kind of awesome. I want him to be portrayed as the military genius he is, as well as have him personally kick ass.

I mean, traditionally Guilliman has always been seen as what Cyclops is to the rest of the X-Men. (AKA, the stuffy, by the book soldier who is less popular than the bad boy anti-heroes). I don't want him to be written as some gung-ho action hero, but more of a brilliant and calculating general. Show him as likable and charismatic, with three dimensions. I would really like to see he sees Alpharius and how percives things. What's the relationship with the Emperor?

I would like to see what the Word Bearers on Terra get up to after Calth goes public - it is mentioned that there is a contingent there after battle for the abyss.

World Eaters would be good - Khârn at the eternity gate would be wicked.

Nightlords and Alpha Legion, White Scars, Iron Hands, Salamanders, Raven Guard and - what they get up to pre/during/post heresy. Whether in trillogy or in opposing/complementing book format (such as the first 3 were complemented with flight of the eisenstein and fulgrim etc).

Also perhaps some proper custodes stuff - I loved the short story in tales of heresy.

Someone in one of the threads also mentioned a book called 'Erebus' (s/p?) - to cover his role from beginning to end - that would be very, very nice to have one of the central players shown in all his evilness. Sort of like the Warhammer heroes book - such as Wulfrik etc more than sword of justice.

Then again, either a couple of anotholgy style books, with Khârn, Typhus, Kor Phaeron, Erebrus, Fabius, Lucius, Sevhaal (s/p?) etc in one book, and a 'good guys' version of the same - showing what they were like in decent style/detail.

Going to sound like a total Fanboy here but the gap growing between the Lion and the Wolf due to certain events (cough cough) and then the reforging of close brotherly bonds, even though the Legions themselves never grew close again.
I think some White scars is needed. There's woefully little on them fluff wise, and they've had only one or two mentions in the HH books, if I remember correctly...

In wich book can we find that mention ?

I agree with the WS. I've been waiting for them and the long forgotten salamanders and raven guard.

I would prefer they got there before I die or start to break down mentally. No, I'm not joking. <_< and now that I'm in a morbid and gloomy mood, I'll continue.

When they do the siege of terra, they'd better do it immensely well. This is the climax of the heresy, the do or die moment. Get someone like ADB or Abnett or a third author who will be found by BL before they write it. They should do it over multiple books and describe each legions role, with a last one detailing the regular guardsmen and the battle on Horus' battle barge.

Sorry to burst the bubble there. The Guardsman has been retconned to be a Custodes. And according to the plan, the last 3 books will be done by Counter, McNeill and Abnett, in that order. And I don't think in any way they will go into that sort of detail, apart from perhaps an Imperial Fists book about their defense during the siege. Such a book could be called Dorn or something - large and covering an expanse of time like The First Heretic or Fulgrim, with decided breaks in the action which are intentionally left blank as they are filled in by other novels.

No, see, the guardsman wanted to see the Emperor up close, so he dressed up as a Custode. Unfortunately, just as he got there, the Emperor and everyone teleported to the barge, leaving the guardsman very confused and half lost, though he recovered his wits enough to become the super hero guardsman he is today. Pity about the books, at least Abnett's doing the last one.

Are you sure? I think they may have changed this in Visions of Heresy.

Could be wrong etc.

We've had Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus, Deathguard, Emperor's Children, Alpha Legion, Dark Angels, Thousand Sons, & Word Bearers. All the books go from great crusade to their fall/division, etc. We need books for the rest of the Legions detailing their prime and their fall/crisis moments; that simple. Also, some books on the key battles would be great.

Not to correct you, but you have got parts of the Legend of Ollanius Pius.

He joined the Emperor's boarding party, and was told to stay behind.

He then dropped his pants and showed the collected Space Marines, Custodes, Primarchs and the Emperor his gigantic set of steel balls.

Impresed by his manliness, the Emperor allowed him to join in the assault.

He was separated from everybody else, but by sheer badassery and unlimited amounts of not giving a crap, slew his way to where the Emperor and Horus fought. Horus saw the gore covered Guardsmen strangling his remaining bodyguard with their own entrails, and in a moment of desparation, called upon all four chaos gods to smite Pius. The four gods aligned, and together, barely managed to slay Pius with foul sorcery from behind, knowing that if Pius saw the sorcerous attack coming they would have no chance.

The Emperor was so enraged by this cowardly act he took off his kids gloves, and followed the example set by his new hero, destroying Horus's body and soul.

The Imperial Fists and Adeptus Custodes are now fighting to re-write Pius's origins, trying to make him one of them. But those who know the truth, those few who remember Pius, know he was a soldier of the utmost courage and bare knuckled fury, but tragically, a "mere" human.

WLK

A D-B recently mentioned that James Swallow's next project is a HH novel about Blood Angels on Signus Prime, so one of my 'wshes' will come true.

As for another episode of HH I'd like to see is the story of the Night Haunter. Not only how he fought Dorn, but the complete story of his corruption. Something alike to 'Fulgrim' by Graham McNeill. I think it would be interesting to read about Curze's nightmarish visions of the future, of his own death, of his homeworld falling apart... how all this influenced him. And a background story of Nostramo's degrading would be also good.

Great stuff Brothers,

I especially like the idea of Khârn at the Eternity Gate. According to the 2nd edition codex when Horus fell Khârn already lay dead in the rubble inside the emperors palace. It mustve taken a real badass to best him, THAT would make an excellent part of any book, but describing his re-animation with cause and plot twisting leading right upto his betrayal on Skalathrax.

Erebus. That aslo would rock!

I think we have a theme going here, stories following single characters sounds great. Fabius, Bjorn or even Sigismund would be great books in their own right

Keep those ideas coming

Have no fear, I'm joking. Though they did retconn him, much to my eternal sadness. GO SUPER GUARDSMAN! :)

Ok here's one. The Traitors reach Terra, and they spend days on end blasting The Emperors Palace to rubble, in the end they storm the place, The Emperor teleports up to Horus' ship, Horus smacks him around a bit but gets distracted, either by a Guardsman or a Terminator, so The Emperor uses his psychic powers to kill Horus, the Traitors run away, the end.

Let me know what you think?

World Eaters would be good (Khârn at the Eternity Gate, YES), and I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of the Death Guard - the whole Legion from inception on Barbarus to Isstvan V, rather than the small part of the Legion that Garro encountered in TFOTE. A-D-B could do wonders with them. And the Night Lords deserve a book of their own too. Night Haunter, they could call it, maybe by Abnett or McNeill.

Beyond that, the Raven Guard need a book too, and I agree with the comments above that a book about Dorn should be done like Fulgrim, over a long period of time.
