Bulking up the backpacks

I've recently run into the same thing doing a couple of extra heavy bolter marines using the scout heavy bolters on normal marines.

I first created a "strap" with green stuff that attaches to the top of the regular backback, bulking up the air intake that the strap connects to. I then added cut down and attached the ammo clips from the storm bolter found on the Rhino sprue and added this to the top of the backpack, filling in the few caps with greenstuff.

It looks quite good and gives a bit of variation on the heavy bolter poses, if only my sculpting was a little better it would look even better!

Hope that helps

You can also try 'portable' versions of the heavy weapons with regular backpacks. Remove all the excess cables and so forth and add an ammo box or plasma container to the weapon in question and you'll have a 'lite' version that will work with the regular backpack - think the Scout HB.

These are some good ideas, and i think ill definitely run the Heavy Bolter as a ''light'' version as the scouts have.

Unfortunately don't have the Dev Kit, so ill try and find some stuff from elsewhere to use as ammo box's...

The Plasma Cannon is still pretty iffy though, it comes with a big cable that goes up to the backpack area. I was thinking about greenstuffing it so that the cable runs into the regular backpack, through one of the vents or by cutting a vent off.

Unsure.
